I woke up to a loud blare which startled me more than anything. I look around in absolute confusion and quickly put on jeans and my boots. Daryl runs into the room, "grab your shit, we've got to get out of here."

"What's happening?" I question but follow his lead in grabbing my stuff.

"The place is shutting itself down and it's going to explode very soon," He yells to me before pushing me out the door.

I grip onto my bag and run towards my group. Rick was waiting for me as everyone else was running to the entrance. I grip onto his hand and we run towards everyone else. Daryl was close behind us.

Rick pushes me into Shane's arms as him and Daryl try to break the glass. It wasn't budging and I could feel the panic in the air. I didn't care about the bullshit Shane put me through at the moment as I gripped onto his hand.

"Rick! I have something that might help," Carol says, running over to Rick and pulling something out.

"Shit," I hear Shane mumble, pulling me down as Rick yells for everyone to take cover.

Shane shields my body with his as an explosion happens, finally breaking the glass.

After a few moments, I'm pulled back up by Shane and he quickly looks over my body for injuries before rushing me out of the building. I try to find Rick but I can't in the mist of everything happening. I follow Shane and he lets me in his car first before jumping in and covering my body once again with his. I cover my face as a loud explosion shakes the car. Shane's grip tightens around me as my body shakes with the explosion. Loud noises have always gave me anxiety since I was a kid and Shane knew that. Of course he did. He's been in my life for so many years. He knows me as well as Rick does.

When the shaking finally stopped, Shane loosens his grip on me but doesn't let go.

"Are you okay, Maeve?" He asks softly.

I nod in response but stay silent under him. I move slightly so that I'm looking in his eyes. I know he sees the fear in them because he brushes his thumb across my cheek. I didn't realize that I had tears slipping down my cheeks until he presses a kiss to my forehead and I could see the wetness on his shirt from my tears.

"you're okay," He assures me.

I slip my arm around his neck and pull him closer to me, wanting to feel the familiar comfort. I don't care what he did, I see the Shane I used to know. The Shane that used to protect me and love me. I connect our lips desperately and he doesn't hesitate to kiss me back. The moment is cut short when Rick bangs on the window.

"Love birds, we need to leave now," He says as Shane and I pull apart.

"Okay, man," Shane calls back. He pulls me across his lap so that he's in the driver side and i'm on the passenger side.

I bite my lip and keep silent as we drive. I'm not sure where we are going.

"Do you want to talk about what just happened?" Shane finally speaks up.

"I'm not sure if we should," I admit.

"I really do miss you. I was just upset when Rick came back and Lori pushed me away like nothing had happened between us," he explains himself.

I look at him with an annoyed expression, "you do realize that's exactly what you did to me?"

He thinks for a moment then nods, "you're right and I'm so sorry for the way I treated you."

"I just don't understand. I thought you were happy with me," I say with a frown.

"I was. Things with Lori just confused me. I always admired her so when it was finally happening, I couldn't help it."
