"What is going on?" I ask Maggie as I walk up to her and Beth. That's when I see it.

The Governor has Hershel and Michonne. There's an army of people surrounding them.

Beth grips onto my arm as we watch Rick trying to talk to the crazed man.

"Here," Daryl says from behind us as he hands out weapons to our people.

I can't hear what they are saying from all the way back here. Instead, I prepare for the worst. My gun is aimed and ready to shoot towards the Governor and his people. I glance to my side to see Carl. I want to make sure I have eyes on him at all times.

"Maeve," I hear Daryl say from behind me.

I don't have time to answer. My heart sinks to the bottom of my stomach as the Governor takes his sword and brings it down on Hershel's neck.

Screams and cries happen all around me as we all begin shooting. Hershel is gone. The kindest soul I have ever met was taken by an evil man.

"Maeve! Do not leave my side!" Daryl yells to me.

I can barely focus on what he says as I shoot towards the enemy. That's when I realize that Rick is still out there. I have to get to my brother. What if he's hurt?

God. I have to get Judith. I have to get Carl.

Where do I go?

"Maeve, i'm not kidding!" Daryl yells again to me.

I look at him, "Find me after!"

I run to find Carl, trying to dodge bullets as I do. Walkers have started to break in as the gates come down.

I finally reach him, "Carl!"

"Maeve!" he reaches for me.

I grab his arm and pull him behind a car, "I'm going to go get your dad. Please wait for us here."

"It's too dangerous," he argues with me.

"I'll never forgive myself if I let something happen to him."

"I'll come with you."

"He will never forgive me if I let something happen to you so please stay here," I beg my nephew.

He nods and hands me another gun, "be careful."

I kiss the top of his head before I run towards the enemy. I hide behind anything I can to dodge the bullets.

There's bangs that come from behind me. The prison is being completely destroyed behind me. I have to keep my mind focused on finding my brother.

When I finally reach him, the Governor has his arms wrapped around his neck. I don't hesitate to hold my gun up and aim at the Governor's head. The trigger is pulled easily and the Governor collapses.

Rick gasps for air as I reach him.

"Ricky! Are you okay?" I ask, looking him over.

He looks like absolute shit. The Governor really did a number on him. Rick doesn't answer me as he tries to get up. I help him up and keep my arm around his waist.

"Where's Carl?" he asks.

"Let's go get him," I tell him.

I lead him to where I had left Carl. The prison has been abandoned. All of our people are gone and are replaced with walkers. I search around for Daryl but can't find him. He left. I should have stayed by his side. Now he's gone. Again.

"Carl!" Rick yells for his son.

Carl pops out and runs to us. He hugs us both.

"Judith?" Rick asks him.

He doesn't answer but we all begin looking for the sweet baby.

We spot her car seat and run to it. My heart sinks for another time as the seat is empty and covered in blood. I cover my mouth to hold in my sob.

Carl breaks down in front of us. It's heartbreaking.

"We have to go," I tell him, gripping his arm.

Rick leans against me as we leave our destroyed home behind. We thought we were safe. We let our guard down. That's something we are never doing again.

I will make sure I never lose these two. They are all I have ever had and they will remain all I will ever have.

I'm not sure where we are going but we walk for away from the prison.

"Let's try this house," Carl says, pointing ahead.

I nod, leading us that way. Once we reach the porch, I set Rick down on the chair.

"Stay here," I tell Rick.

He goes to argue with me but I cover his mouth, "i'm serious."

He nods. Carl and I begin the walkthrough of the house, not finding anyone or anything.

"It's clear," I tell Rick as I help him inside.

We use the couch to block the door, "think it will keep them out?" Carl asks.

"It should," I answer just as Rick collapses on the couch.

I sigh. I throw Carl a bag of chips that we got from an abandoned restaurant that we got on our way here.
