I'm not sure how long we have been walking. I'm exhausted, hot, hungry, and so damn thirsty.
I have Judith snuggled against my chest in a wrap. Carl and I take turns holding her.
I can't help but think back of when we were on the way to the CDC and I asked Daryl if he had seen any dogs. I finally seen some dogs and we had to eat them to survive. It had made me so sick that I got nauseous and puked it up right after.
I couldn't hold any of it down.
I watch as Daryl tells Rick something then heads for the woods. He's been more distant than ever. I know he was crushed when Beth died. He's barely said a word to me. He will randomly come up and squeeze my hand but that's it.
I sigh and unwrap Judith from me to hand her over to Carl. He gives me a confused look but doesn't say anything as I begin walking towards the direction Daryl went. I'm quiet as I walk, making sure I don't step on any branches or draw any attention to myself.
When I finally catch up to Daryl, he's sitting down with a cigarette between his fingers. My breath hitches as he puts the bud out on his hand.
I make sure I snap on branches and leaves as I walk over to him. He doesn't say a word or look at me as I take a seat next to me.
He just wraps an arm around my shoulders and pulls me into his side.
"Daryl..."
"Don't."
We walk back silently to the road where the rest of the group is. He laces his fingers with mine but doesn't say a word.
"There were bottles of water in the middle of the road for us. The note said it was from a 'friend'", Rick tells Daryl and I.
"That's not suspicious at all," I say sarcastically.
"I know," Rick says, shaking his head.
There's a loud crack of thunder above us and it stars to sprinkle cold rain on us. I look at the sky and let the rain hit my face as it begins raining harder. Everyone around me is cheering and trying to fill up their water bottles. I close my eyes and let the rain calm me. It's been so long since I have felt any sort of peace.
I feel warm fingers brush against my cheek and gently grab my chin to direct my lips. The warmth of Daryl's lips make me giddy. I feel like a school girl getting kissed my her crush in the rain.
I connect our lips in perfect unison. Our lips mold like they were meant for each other. I can't imagine kissing anyone else after I have been kissed by him.
He makes me weak in the knees and out of breath.
He is the first to pull away. Only then do I notice that it's starting to turn into a storm.
"We need to get Judith out of this!" Carl yells to his dad.
"I found a barn," Daryl tells Rick.
We all follow Daryl to the barn he found. I didn't even notice it before since I was too busy watching him hurt himself.
The barn smells like shit but it's walker free and keeps us from the weather. We will have a safe and dry place to sleep tonight. Hopefully we can come up with a plan. I'm so tired of walking with no destination.
