Evelyn had been spending every day at Sam and Emily's house. She had grown closer to all the boys, especially Paul. Evelyn and Paul had a strange relationship. If you didn't know them you would think they were dating. There were even times that even Emily and the pack questioned it.
Evelyn had just left Emily's after a very chaotic dinner. Paul had offered to walk her home since it was dark out but she had refused. As Evelyn walked through the woods a figure appeared next to her, the same figure that she saw at Sam and Emily's a couple of weeks ago. 'Don't you think you should have taken Paul up on his offer to walk you home? It is late.'
Evelyn turned her head to look at the ghost of her best friend, "It will be fine Sofi. Nothing is going to happen." she climbed over a fallen tree, the leaves crunching under her boots as she landed back on the ground.
A rustling could be heard around them, 'Eve, I don't like this.'
Evelyn came to a stop and looked around, "I was probably just the wind," was she reassuring Sofia or herself, she couldn't tell you. Sofia frowned before nodding and disappearing.
Evelyn turned to start walking back toward her house but ended up coming face to face with a horrid creature. It was as black as night, shadows seemed to curl around its body. The creature had large antlers sitting on the top of its head, so sharp it could cut her if she touched it. Its pure white eyes pierced through Evelyn, seeming to stare into her soul. Evelyn stood paralyzed, too scared to move. Until the creature lunged toward her, causing her to let out a piercing scream, the sound echoing through the night.
Paul sat on the couch with Jared and Jacob, Sam and Emily taking up the loveseat. They were all gathered around the TV, watching the newest episode of The Vampire Diaries. "This is so unrealistic," Jared stated.
"They don't know anything about shapeshifters," Jacob complained.
Emily laughed from her spot curled into Sam, "It's supposed to be fictional. It's not supposed to be accurate, people don't know shapeshifters exist."
Paul opened his mouth to respond but was cut off by a scream coming from the woods. Everyone shot to their feet, "Please tell me that's not who I think it is," Emily begged, her voice laced with worry.
Before anyone could answer Paul ran out the door and into the woods, transforming into a huge dark silver wolf. "Stay here and lock the doors, We'll be back as soon as we can," Sam told Emily before he and the others followed after Paul.
Paul's wolf tore through the woods, trying to catch Evelyn's scent. "Paul? Where are you" Sam asked through the bond. Sam asked through the bond. Paul ignored him and instead continued tearing through the woods. When he finally caught her scent, he quickly followed it only to come to a fallen tree. Paul phased back and grabbed a pair of shorts he had hidden within the woods and began to look around, searching for anything that could lead to Evelyn.
Sam, Jacob, Jared, Quil, Embry, and Seth eventually found Paul and began to help look around. The entire pack had grown very fond of Evelyn, therefore they hoped they would find her safe and unharmed. Seth, Jacob, Jared, and Sam thought of her as a sister, while Quil and Embry thought of her as their best friend.
After a while of looking Seth came across a moon necklace that Paul had given to her, "Guys!" he called, "I found something!"
Everyone gathered around him as he dug the gold chain from underneath the tree. "That's the necklace I got her," Paul said as he grabbed the chain from Seth's hands.
"You won't find her by just standing around." A voice spoke from behind them.
They all whipped around to see a dark-haired girl standing a little ways away from them, not having heard her approach. The girl wore a short white sundress, a pair of brown heeled ankle boots, and a cropped denim jacket, her long dark brown hair flowing over her shoulders. "Who are you?" Jacob asked, taking a step forward.
"My name's not going to help find Evelyn," she spoke.
Paul took a step towards the girl, "Why don't you have a scent? And why didn't we hear you approach?" he asked the girl.
The girl gave the boys a mischievous smile, "Because I'm dead."
