Sitting in the large, cushioned chair behind the Headmaster's desk was surreal. Even more surreal was opening up the top drawer of the Headmaster's desk and seeing two letters sealed with the Hogwarts crest. I took both letters from the drawer, and gently ran my fingers across my name before carefully opening the letter.

Desdemona,

If you are reading this, I am dead. I knew this day would come, and I'm sorry that I haven't properly prepared you for it. By this time, you would have seen the memories I have left for you, and I'm sure it has raised more questions than given answers. The truth is is that Nova wanted nothing to do with you after you were conceived, but I wanted a family of my own, and selfishly made her keep you.

I want you to know that I love you, very much. And while your mother hated the thought of you, I adored you the moment I found out about you. When I held you in my arms for the first time, I knew I would do anything in my power to protect you, no matter what. Which is why I'd like to apologize for leaving you at that orphanage when you were only a few weeks old. At the time, I thought it would be the safest for you, but I was wrong. And even after you made it to Hogwarts, I couldn't protect you. For that, I hope you forgive me.

Do not listen to those who do not understand you. I know what Bellatrix Lestrange has done to you, what she has called you; Do not let her words hurt you. You are no less than any other witch because you have muggle blood. You are more powerful than any pure blooded witch or wizard I've ever known. You have achieved more in five years than any other Hogwarts student has in seven.

Do not forget that I love you very much, Desdemona. While I have a difficulty showing my emotion, I hope you knew that I loved you before I left you. Stay strong during these trying times, darling.

Love Always,

Your father

Severus Snape

I felt another round of tears make their way to my eyes and fall down my cheeks. I felt my heart clench as I let out a sob, wrapping my arms around myself. I sniffled, pulling myself together before gently folding the parchment and placing it in the same pocket as the vial.

"I hope you know I loved you too, dad." I whispered, picking up Draco's letter. "And, I forgive you."

"Mona!" Draco exclaimed as I stepped out of the Headmaster's office. I offered him a soft smile and held out the letter for him to take.

"He left this for you." I told him, placing the letter in his hands.

"For me?" He questioned, looking down at the letter.

"Yes." I nodded, hating the way my voice shook when I spoke. Draco pocketed his letter and gently took me into his arms, giving me a much needed hug. I clung to him as though my life depended on it, letting out a muffled sob in his shoulder.

"It's going to be alright, love." Draco whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of my head. I nodded against his shoulder and slowly calmed down.

"I'd like to check on the Weasley's." I announced, letting Draco reach up and wipe my tear stained cheeks. He nodded, gently interlocking out fingers and walking us to the makeshift hospital wing. The moment Draco and I stepped into the room, the room fell deathly silent. I was almost positive that we could hear a quill drop in the silence that blanketed the room. George Weasley, ever his family's defender, threw a curse towards Draco and I. I didn't have time to pull my wand from my sleeve to defend myself, but Fred did. He blocked the spell and stood between George and I, glancing over his shoulder at Draco and I momentarily.

"George, stop!" Fred scolded his twin. "She saved us."

Fred gently pulled me away from Draco, looking me over with a frown.

"Sorry." George muttered sheepishly.

"Heard about what happened, are you alright?" Fred asked. I shook my head, but put on a small smile anyway.

"No, but I will be." I told him. "How are you guys? I'm happy to know that you lot didn't die after I left you."

"Yeah, I wasn't going to let another chance at life slip through my fingers so easily." Cedric said with a shake of his head.

"Good, because I hear that third time's the charm." I hummed, noticing that only the twins and Cedric were looking at Draco and I. Draco inched forward, wrapping an arm around my waist, also looking around the room. "I just wanted to be sure that you three were safe."

I turned away from the silent Weasley's, grabbing Draco's hand.

"Where are you going?" Fred asked.

"It's obvious that Draco and I aren't wanted here." I smiled weakly. "We're going to go before we cause more problems."

"Wait!" Molly Weasley called out. I turned to face her, and was immediately engulfed in a hug. It was warm and made me feel at home, but most importantly it made me feel comforted.

"Thank you." I murmured.

"Let me heal you up." She smiled down at me warmly, brushing her fingers against the scar on my cheek. Before I could protest, she waved her wand and healed the scars on my arm and my cheek.

"Thank you." I repeated, smiling slightly at her before grabbing Draco's hand and leaving the hall.
