Raph and Leo smelled the freshly cooked rice before hearing the voices and looked at each other. They quietly walked towards the kitchen and soon heard Mikey's voice.

"Chopsticks are coming NOW, BABY!"

"What the Hell..." Raph murmured, and he and Leo quickened their steps.

"My name is April, this is Mikey."

"She already knows that!" Mikey chirped as he handed her the chopsticks from the other side of the counter, which she took with a “Thank you” and a wink.

Her hunger was enormous! She lifted the bowl to her mouth and filled the sticky rice with some veggies onto her chopsticks. Oh, how good that smells!

"Sooo, what's your name?"

The chopsticks froze in midair, and she glared over at April, her mouth already open. She put the bowl and chopsticks back on the table and began

"I..."

But then her eyes darted with a frown to the second door at the other end of the kitchen and before April could figure it out, the door flew open and Raph and Leo appeared in a flash.

"What's going on here?" shouted Raph

Mikey and April flinched. The young woman, on the other hand, had instinctively ducked for cover.

“AAAAArrrrrgh!”

She lay on the floor and gasped in pain.

"Oh! Sorry! Sorry sorry sorry!” Raph covered his mouth with his hands and hurried around the counter. Leo was still standing in the doorway with a flabbergasted face. She is awake! She's sitting in our kitchen!

Donnie was about to sprint towards the exit when he heard her scream. He felt her pain and a raging anger opened up in him. His Bo began to glow as he turned in the direction the scream had come from.

He ran, almost blind with concern for her.

"OH DAMN IT!" April scolded and hurried to help the young woman sit up.

"How stupid was that?!" exclaimed Mikey

Raph knelt down beside her as well and was about to pick her up when the first door flew away with a bang.

Donnie made one last leap, kicking in the door and immediately assuming his fighting stance and standing in the kitchen.

Everyone froze and looked at Donnie. Flames danced around his body and Bo. Purple transparent flames!

He stared back and grasped the situation: She had fallen off her chair! April and Raph help her up! She was not in danger!

Then he noticed the flames just as they were dying.

"Wha..." he looked down at himself - but they were gone.

"Dude, what was THAT?" exclaimed Leo in disbelief. Mikey just continued to stare open-mouthed.

When April put her hand on the young woman's back to help her sit up, April felt a twisting movement in her chest. The image of Karai transferring her power to April flashed through the young journalist's memory for a second.

But the moment was gone as soon as Raph picked the young woman up.

"I'm really sorry!" Raph said, and April felt the need to slip a flip-flop over the back of his head.

Raph helped the young woman sit back down on the chair, now very pale.

"It's… okay," the young woman said in ragged breaths.

"No! It's not! I'm way too overprotective… I…” Raph's eyes were fixed on her pale face. She must be in a lot of pain, and it was his fault! His hand was still hovering in the air behind her, so he could catch her if she slipped off the stool again. She looked like she was about to faint!

Then she turned to him and lightly touched his lower arm with her hand and looked at him. He felt a strange twisting in his chest.

"I can… understand that well. It's… really okay." she said

Raph looked at her with wide eyes. THAT was what Leo meant! His mouth was open. April frowned at him.

The young woman didn't notice Raph's sudden speechlessness. She felt very weak, the reflex and the pain drained that little bit of energy what had just been created. In front of her was still the bowl of steaming rice. She wasn't able to hold the chopsticks now, her hand was shaking way too much. And despite her hunger, her attention was drawn to the purple turtle, and she looked over at him.

Donnie was still standing confused in the kitchen door with his Bo in his hand. Did he just burn? Mikey and Leo had walked over to him and were looking at him with interest.

"Man, that looked really cool!" Mikey said in awe

"How did you do that, Donnie?" asked Leo

But he didn't answer. His attention wandered over to her. She was here. Not gone. In safety. She was sitting in the kitchen at his home. He was relieved.

But he felt how little energy she had.

"Raph, that was really unnecessary." said April.

"…. What?"

"Unnecessary!"

"Yeah, I… I think she should lie down, right?"

"Hey, would you like to lie down?"

"Can you do that again, Donnie?"

"Donnie?"

Donnie didn't notice the voices and the commotion. He and she looked at each other, and they felt the flame. As he began his way to her, the voices of the others died away. The atmosphere in the room had changed, and Donnie and the young woman… it was as if they were suddenly in another world.

The turtle sat down next to her on the vacated stool as April and Raph drew back in surprise and open-mouthed.
She smiled weakly at him, and he smiled back. He reached over to the chopsticks and the bowl of rice and vegetables. It smelled good, and he also noticed his hunger. They must have slept a long time. He picked up the rice, making sure it wasn't too much. She needed to regain her strength, but should eat slowly.

She followed his movements in silence. Her circulation was out of whack, and she felt shaky and cold. He sat in front of her with the bowl in one hand and the chopsticks in the other, picked up the rice and brought it to her.

She opened her mouth and Donnie smiled as she took the first bite. She sighed as she chewed, her shoulders dropped in relief, and she closed her eyes. It had to taste good. He let her finish chewing and then started on the next portion. Slowly, gently, he helped her eat.

After the fourth bite, the color returned to her face. After the sixth, she put her hand on Donnie's, who was holding the chopsticks with rice, and stopped it from moving. The purple one knew exactly what she wanted, and he looked at her with mock reproach. Her smile widened and she nodded.

'You're so persistent,' Donnie thought with a smile, taking the bite himself. And like after a non-verbal negotiation, the ratio was now two to one.

April and the rest of the turtles were speechless at first. They watched the two in their communication that didn't need words. They seemed to have forgotten everything around them.

"What's going on here?" whispered April

"Can they hear us…?" whispered Mikey back

"I don't know… I don't think so." she answered.

They stood in front of this intimate moment like an audience and felt like involuntary observers.

"I'll get the painkillers." said April

"I'll come with you" was a two-voiced answer.

They walked away quietly, and April had to pull Leo out of the kitchen by his arm.
