Chapter 8 – Travel and a new discovery (Aislin’s POV)

I woke up the next morning back in my wolf form. I stretched before heading into the kitchen and I transformed back into my human self. It felt weird, being human again and all. It was if…I was gaining myself back. I had been searching for years for the right prophecy to help us return back to normal humans.

Last night:

Cadal and I had talked about theories about what happens after we broke the curse. I told him I believed we carried on with life when the curse is broken like before we were cursed. He agreed that it was likely but we had to be prepared that we may die as well. I had told him I believed that the lockets could be the only thing keeping him alive. He told me he believed it held back time with the holder and when he took it off, he will die.

“But what will happen if we had to sacrifice the lockets?” I asked him, tears filling my eyes. He grasped my hands and made me look in his eyes.

“I will sacrifice my life for you and your sisters. I was placed by your brother Kishan to protect you. I was placed by your mother and father to protect their children.” He said to me.

I felt the familiar guilt fill me up again. Cadal must’ve noticed the guilt because he sighed.

“You can’t feel guilty about that forever Aislin. You won’t be able to live life if you keep this up” He said to me.

“I can’t help it Cadal. Mother died because I was born. Father died because mother died because of me. Kishan died because I failed to protect him” I said sadly.

“You have to let that go Aislin. No one blames you for what happened that day you were born. No one blames you for your father’s death. No one blames you for Kishan’s death.” He said to me.

I took a deep breath and nodded. He smiled at me and we talked a little bit longer, and somehow it came to the topic of the boys.

“I fear Kadisha has stronger feelings for Louis than she admits Cadal. It could bring her serious harm.” I admitted to him. He frowned but nodded.

“Sometimes Aislin…sometimes it is things such as love that keeps a person alive. It can be the thing that can help soldiers fight harder.” Cadal said to me, giving me a certain look.

“What do you mean Cadal?” I said with a hint of defence.

“I am talking about young Harry. He seemed quite worry about you when you were in pain yesterday” He said to me.

“He’s just a caring person” I said with an emotionless expression.

“Sure Aislin; And Bellona doesn’t have a crush on Niall” Cadal said with a smirk that reminded me of Kishan.

“Fine; ok I have a small weird feeling whenever I even think of him! He makes my knees weak, my heart race, Cadal.” I said to him with a pout.

“Then it’s obvious you have a crush on him Aislin” He said to me.

“How can I stop it?” I asked him. He just laughed at me while I pouted again.

“The thing is Aislin, I don’t know how. You have to block your heart” He said to me.

I frowned as he said that to me and I walked out of the room and into the living room where Harry and the others were. Liam told me Kadisha and Louis was going on a date. Bellona and I cooed and Harry caught my eyesight and he and I blushed.

“Let’s head off to bed now. It’s time we did because we have to start our journey tomorrow” Bellona said with a look when she caught my blush.
