Chapter 3: A legend and a truth (Niall’s POV)

We finally arrived at the circus with no problems. The circus wasn’t just any ordinary circus. You enter the camp ground and it’s like dream world or Disney land. There was a massive circus tent in the middle where the actual show was.

“Come on! We’re going to be late” Danielle said to us urgently.

We got into the tent and watched the performers. It was incredible! Just watching the fire walkers and the performers do some amazing tricks! The performers just brought flexible to a whole new level!

“Ladies and gentlemen; may I introduce, the princess of the forest and the grand lioness, Bellona!” The ring leader announced.

There was a rattle in the cage but finally, they opened up the cage to reveal a beautiful golden lion. The lioness, Bellona, paced back and forth in front of us but somehow her eyes landed on mine. I was stunned as I looked in her cobalt blue eyes. She gave a soft growl but her eyes never left mine.

The ringleader pulled out his whip and lashed at the Lioness. She jumped away just in time and performed her tricks. There was just something there…A sense of sadness I got from the lioness.

“I wish you were free” I whispered to the Lioness. The lioness looked at me before shaking its head slightly and bounded up the ramp back into its cage.

I could sense Louis and Harry looking at me in concern but I shrugged. I felt sorry for the Lioness, being away from her family and not knowing how they are.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, that was our great lioness, Bellona!” The ringleader announced.

There were a few applauds and a few more acts until finally we got out of the circus and back to our hotel. I didn’t bother with chatting with the Lads so I took refuge in my own room and fell asleep.

The next morning, I woke up feeling happier and I bounded down the stairs for breakfast. Liam looked at me in surprise as I wolfed down my pancakes and some of Danielle’s.

“Jesus Niall, were you starving or something?” Liam asked me in disbelief while Danielle giggled.

“I don’t know….Maybe?” I suggested as I chugged down a glass of water.

Zayn and Perrie walked into the room and smiled at Danielle, Liam and I before diving into the food here. Harry woke up later, saying he needed food. Louis just bounced down the stairs and into the kitchen.

“So what’s the plan today Liam?” Harry grunted out as he ate his breakfast.

“Well…it does depend on what you want to do but we have to meet the guy Cadal at the circus grounds today” Liam said to us.

“When do we have to meet him?” I asked Liam.

“In an hour so hurry up and get ready Irish boy” Liam teased and I ran back upstairs to get ready.

For some reason, I was more excited about the fact I might get a chance to see Bellona. I got changed in record time and was waiting for the others by the door. When they finally got there, we were speeding our way to the circus in order to be there on time.

“Hi we’re here to see Mr Cadal?” Louis asked the receptionist at the circus. The lady nodded and told us to follow the signs to Bellona’s cage.

We did as she instructed and soon found a man standing next to Bellona’s cage. She growled softly at the man and he said something back to her that I couldn’t hear. Her ears flickered for a second before she looked at me once again.
