Chapter 12 – Louis’s POV (Looking after her)

I watched my band members and their girlfriends and the princess’s charge into the forest. I wished I could’ve gone with them to protect them but I knew I must stay with Kadisha. She looked as if she was in so much pain; I wished I could swap places with her. I mentally hit myself over and over again. She shouldn’t have sacrificed herself for me! I should be the one with the Kraken bite! Not her!

“Mother….Aislin…..cure to be broken…..No….I can’t fall in love” She whispered in her sleep.

I felt my heart break as she said she couldn’t fall in love. I knew it was early to say and that it’s crazy but I felt as if I was complete when I had Kadisha by my side. We had a few alone times but with those times, I mainly told her about our society nowadays and how much times have changed. She seemed so fascinated in the new languages that the world spoke. I brushed my lips against her forehead and I gave a soft sigh.

“I love you Kadisha” I whispered to her. I was about to get up and make a tent for Kadisha when I heard her say something that I never expected.

“I love you too Louis…but we can never be….because…curse” She whispered. I had to turn and see if she was still asleep.

She was and I felt my heart become unbroken. I grinned to myself and began to make a tent for her. I chopped down a few trees and made a small tent. I placed Kadisha inside and went to find food. I found an apple tree and I took a few and put them by my side just in case and watched over Kadisha.

She was beautiful, way more beautiful than any girl I knew. She had a wonderful personality and loved her sisters so powerfully I knew she would do anything for them. I stroked her hair and mumbled about London, my family, the places I would take her when the curse was broken.

I noticed that the locket seemed to be glowing more brightly and her skin began to heal and I knew that the poison was out of her system. I sighed in relief and smiled by her side. I fell into a deep sleep not to long after.

I woke up the next morning to see Kadisha was still asleep but the locket was no longer glowing. I smiled, knowing she would be ok and ate an apple and decided to plait Kadisha’s hair. I placed the apple down and began to plait her beautiful thick brown hair. Her hair was smooth and clean as I plaited it and once I had finished, I ran outside and plucked a few flowers and placed them in her hair.

“Louis…what are you doing?” Kadisha mumbled out and her eyes fluttered open.

“You’re awake!” I yelled and Kadisha winced and smiled weakly at me.

“No kidding. Do you have any water? My throat is killing me” She asked.

I nodded and raced outside and grabbed a small bowl I had made out of wood and ran to the stream and got a bit of water and ran back and handed it to Kadisha, who chugged down the water quickly. She sighed in relief and stood up.

“Where are the others?” She asked me curiously. I told her how they decided to go on ahead to break the curse and we are to wait here until they return.

“It was Aislin’s idea?” She asked and I nodded. She rolled her eyes and mumbled about how Aislin was always the impatient one. I snickered and she laughed.

“So we have time to kill. What do you want to do?” I asked her. She said that we should redesign the hut so that way if they come back and want a rest, we had space.

We immediately set to work, cutting down trees, gathering food and getting to know each other more. I didn’t realize it at the time but Kadisha found my life just as interesting as I found her life. She told me all about her tutors and her kingdom and how she used to play with as young girl called Natalya nearly every day as she was the stable girl.

“Sounds like even when you were a kid you love horses. Maybe that’s the reason why your animal figure is a horse” I suggested. Kadisha looked at me in surprise and nodded.

“It’s likely. I remember one time Aislin snuck into the forest for three days. Kishan went almost crazy with worry but on his hunting trip, he found her with bottles of cow’s milk feeding Ethiopian new born wolves” Kadisha said to me.

“I think my theory is getting more likely with that story then” I laughed and she replied with a giggle.

We fell back onto the sand and looked at the stars. She told me about the stars and told me a story about two lovers who were forbidden to see each other by the father of the girl and created the Milky Way to stop them from seeing each other. But the girl had wept so badly that the father took pity on them and let them be reunited once a year.

“It’s a sad tale I rekon. Only seeing the love of your life once a year.... I would go crazy without them” Kadisha said.

“I agree. I don’t know where I would be without you” I said to her distractedly before I blushed.

“I mean…I mean, it’s a sad tale” I stuttered out and Kadisha blushed.

“Louis….do I have….do I have your permission to kiss you?” she mumbled under her breath.

(Kadisha’s POV)

I mentally kicked myself. I shouldn’t be asking him that! We mustn’t! It’s forbidden, I couldn’t do it! Not while we were cursed! But when I looked into Louis’s eyes that were filled with love, I couldn’t help but discard those thoughts. He came so close to me and I could feel his warm, mint breath. Our eyes connected and I knew this was right.

His lips crashed onto mine and I felt fire warm me through that contacts. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he ran his hands through my hair and pulled me closer to him. Our kiss was filled with love and passion. Fireworks exploded on my lips and my stomach was filled with butterflies.

He rolled me onto my back and he was on top of me. Our eyes connected and I knew he loves me just as much as I love him. We didn’t stop kissing unless it was to catch our breath. He kissed my neck softly and I let out a soft moan. He groaned at the sound and I knew thing s was getting way too heated, way too quickly.

“Louis…we have to stop now” I breathed out. He groaned but obeyed my wishes and rolled off me and fell next to me.

“You know, you are just too tempting for your own good. You kiss like a goddess.” He said to me and I smiled at him.

“Says the guy that makes it feel like fireworks is dancing on my lips and butterflies flying in my stomach” I laughed.

He grinned and we cuddled under the stars. I wanted to stay awake but I ended up falling asleep listening to the sound of his heartbeat.

I woke up the next morning, feeling as if I was walking on cloud nine. But as I looked at Louis, I felt as if I had fallen off the cloud and hit concrete. I felt guilt weigh me down. He looked so happy in his sleep…What happened last night shouldn’t have happened, not while I was still cursed. I looked at Louis and I knew I love him. He made me feel all weak kneed just by smiling at me. His sense of humour always made me laugh and he was serious when needed.

He deserved someone who wasn’t a cursed 1500 year old princess who would most likely die once the curse was broken. I had to say that he was like the prince I’ve always hoped for. Kishan would’ve approved of Louis. I resolved myself to not do anything and keep my distance from him. I sent a mental prayer to Aislin and Bellona that they hurried the hell up and get back here.

Louis woke up and I told him I was just going for a walk. He frowned but said to be back soon. I almost ran into the forest and walked a while. With every step I reminded myself of my new resolution.

I prayed that my sisters would hurry up. I didn’t know how long I could keep this resolution.
