Eris had played her violin deep into the night. Her feelings had been in such a state after their arrival at Nevermore and concentrating on the music always helped her with the anxiety of chance.

She had fallen into a restless sleep several hours past midnight and was now groggy. The cold morning light falling through her window had woken her and she immediately vowed to procure some curtains.

The thick fog outside her window had made it difficult to stay moody though. The atmosphere was exactly how she liked it. Fog, teeth-chattering coldness and the silence that only a large house with few people in it could procure.

As Eris hadn't bothered to unpack yet she simply pulled something to wear out of her suitcase and creeped out of the room.
She didn't know if the teacher next doors was already awake and did not plan on finding out. It was too early for confused emotions and she hadn't even had a coffee yet.

She made her way to the dining hall and peeked inside. It was vacant.
The kitchen next to it was thankfully also empty.
After some time of frantic searching she found something to eat and a coffee machine that looked functional.

With a cheese bun in one hand and a cup of steaming, black coffee in the other, Eris started slendering through the halls, exploring anything she hadn't already seen yesterday.

Quickly she found herself in a corridor she hadn't seen before and marveled at the ancient material. She walked past a large statue of a man and on second glance realised it was supposed to be Edgar Allan Poe.
Eris chuckled. Of course the mysterious author, who'd written some of her favourite horror stories would be an alumni of this school.
She saluted and went on.

Soon she was walking into the 'quad' as Miss Thornhill had called it. The large fountain had fascinated Eris and now she took her time, taking in the details of the architecture.
Whoever had constructed Nevermore had been a genius, Eris thought while taking out a cigarette. She enjoyed the cool, fresh air while inhaling the bitter smoke.
The morning fog would disperse soon, making way for the sun, Eris knew and she planed on enjoying as much of the bleak weather as possible.
Jocelyn was probably huddled up in her room reading some romance novel.
Eris scoffed and put out the cigarette bud on the side of the fountain.
She threw it up into the air and quickly summoned her powers to complety destroy it.
A bitter grin appeared on her face at how easy it was becoming to procure such a fatal force.

"Good morning, Eris"

Eris jumped and coffee spilled over her hand.
"geez, anounce youself, would you."
Eris said, wiping away the liquid.
Principal Weems was standing behind her with that unnaturally large smile plastered on her face. Eris got the feeling this woman was planing something wicked.
It definitely creeped her out.

"Morning", Eris said reluctantly.
"Did you sleep well? The first night is always the hardest for new students, I've been told."
"Like the dead.", Eris replied.
Ms. Weems simply nodded.

"So", Eris said into the uncomfortable silence that followed.
"Edgar Allan Poe, huh?"
"Oh yes. He was one of Nevermores finest. Naturally, we would have loved it to be mentioned more clearly in the history books, but it was too early for a school like this to be known in many circles."
"Yeah... would have been great for piblicity", Eris mumbled.

The Prinvipal nodded significantly.

"I just send Ms. Thornhill to your room to fetch you for breakfast and inform you on some organisational matters, we didn't get to discuss yesterday. I see you've already found yourself something to eat, very good. If you wouldn't mind walking with me I'll just inform you on the way."

Shrugging, Eris walked on beside the tall woman.

"So, your parents submitted you and your sister to this special school with the plea of studying your abbilities and helping and training you to control them. Additionally", she spoke, ignoring Eris' grim face.
"They have requested that you be send to weekly therapy sessions."
