Miss Thornhill was pacing up and down the front of her classroom. Her first lesson of the semester would start in a couple of minutes and coincidentally the dark haired student she'd gotten so inappropriately close to, would be attending.
After Eris had closed the door on her yesterday she'd gone back to the mixer, keeping to the side, not wanting to talk to anyone. She'd have loved to simply go to her room, but as a teacher it was her obligation to attend the start-of-term mixer.
She had spotted Jocelyn still with Bianca Barcley, talking silently together. It seemed as though they had made up.
Marilyn had felt irritated at that, still seeing Eris in her mind, huddled together against the cold stone wall. She'd barely been able to breath. Marilyn hadn't been sure what to do and wished she could take away whatever was causing the beautiful young woman such anxiety, but of course Eris wasn't going to talk to her about it. Especially now.

How could Jocelyn not be more considerate of her sister, Marilyn thought crossly.
The entire ongoing evening Marilyn was vexed by the blonde twin not inquiring how her sister was doing. Marilyn knew the girl had seen her follow her sister out and expected her so ask about it at least fleetingly. But she got disappointed. At the end of the night the teacher ushered her students up to Ophelia Hall, bidding them goodnight cheerily and vanished inside her room. For a while she listend closely for noises from the room next to hers, but Eris seemed to be sleeping already.

The first students trickled into the classroom now, seating themselves as they pleased.
Enid and Yoko entered chatting happily, followed by Bianca and Jocelyn who seemed to be discussing something, looking serene.
Marilyn involuntarily raised her eyebrows. Where they best friends now? After what happened last evening?
She shook her head slightly, trying to stop thinking about it. These were her students and no matter their private lifes and decisions, she'd have to stay impartial.

Xavier, she noticed didn't take his usual spot beside his girlfriend, but walked past her without a glance and took a seat at a completely different table. Not only the teacher had observed this new development, but most students in the classroom turned their heads and whispered conspiratorially, trying to be inconspicuous, while actually being quite obvious.
Just before the bell rang, signalling the start of the lesson Eris slendered in. She was not wearing her school uniform, but a leather jacket and black high-waisted cord pants. Her Shirt read Fuck the Patriarchy.
Marilyn sighed mentally.
She was just about to ask her student why she had decided to desregard the schools policy of wearing uniforms, when the bell rang, cutting her off.

So, instead she continued to say, "Eris, please stay back after class"

The class stared curiously. Eris just looked at her with a detached expression and took a seat in the back.

"Okay class, we are going to learn about poisonous flowers this semester, until we will move on to carniverous plants, by the end of term."

Marilyn started teaching.
Eris watched her closely. She didn't seem different in any way. Was she not feeling dejected after how they left things last night? Or was she just hiding it very well?
She probably doesn't care, said a loud snarky voice in Eris' mind.
Very possible, Eris thought.
She was a grown woman, with a real job and other things to worry about. Why would she care about an eighteen year old girl like herself.
Eris slumbed back into her chair. She was only half listening now, dwelling on the depressing question whether Miss Thornhill liked her or didn't care.

She barely registered her sister and Bianca Barclay working together like a well oiled machine, or the looks Xavier and Bianca kept on throwing at each other. Like politicians looking at the opposing fraction.

She only watched her teacher, walking around the classroom, speaking loudly and passionatly about natures poisons. Occasionally Miss Thornhills gaze went over the students, always staying on Eris' green eyes a second longer.
