A crackling fire filled the office with warmth. The fireplace was designed to look like Medusas head of snakes. Upon entering the room Eris had immediately spotted the, in her opinion, piece of art and now couldn't quite stop staring at it.

Principal Weems was seated behind the desk, explaining the schools principals, something on it's origin and other boring information, Eris only half-listened to. Naturally, Jocelyn was absorbing every word the principal spoke.

"...and as you too arrived a few days earlier than this semesters lessons start, you will have about a week to settle in before the remaining students arrive. We will-", but Ms. Weems was interrupted by Jocelyns inquiring voice.

"Sorry Miss, but what do you mean we arrived early?"
"School starts on september the first", Eris stated matter-of-factly before the Principal could answer.
At this she nodded. "Your sister is quite right. You're parents wrote to us inquiring wether you two would be able to move in a month early, the earliest we could offer was a week before term starts... We- were under the impression you knew."

Jocelyns lips parted slightly, her eyes staring disbelieving at the blonde woman, before snapping to her twin.
"You knew about this?". Her tone was accusing. Eris sighed.
"When was the last time you saw your dear parents talk to me, Josy? Of course I didn't know, but term always starts at the beginning of September. I just assumed it was different her."
In an afterthought she added, "It is a school for freaks after all."

"Don't be rude!" Jocelyn hissed, glancing at principal Weems as if expecting to be expelled straight away.
"Not to worry, Ms. Ryder. Freak is not a word used as an insult around here. At Nevermore Academy we are proud to be different and we teach our students to embrace their powers and special qualities. She will learn to be proud of what she is soon enough". Still with that 'teachery' beam plastered on her face.
Eris simply rolled her eyes and continued to survey the fireplace. She doubted to embrace the part of her for which she had been shunned of basic human affection, any time soon.

"You can call us by our first names, Principal Weems. Having two Miss Ryders would probably be too confusing in the long run."
Perfect little Jocelyn, Erin thought promptly. She always presented as the model student. Erin was sick of the whole interaction. All she wanted was to be alone in a darkened room, play a tune on her violin and not think for a while.

"That is very true, Jocelyn. If you are comfortable with that too, Eris, I will inform the other teachers". The Principal mustered her questioningly, waiting for a response.
Erin knew she didn't care what they called her in the least so she just spoke a flat "Sure, whatever".
Jocelyns stare burned holes into the side of her face. Eris ignored her.

"Well, that's settled then. Now, girls, we will get to settling you in. Both of you will be residing in a room in Ophelia Hall. I took the liberty of putting you in a shared room. Your luggage has already been brought up. And this-", Ms. Weems continued just as the door to the office opened softly and the red-head teacher stepped into the office, smiling welcomingly at them, "is Ms. Thornhill. She will be your dorm mom. If you have any concerns about fitting in, difficulties with classes or issues in general please feel free to talk to her. She will show you to your room now. If you don't have any more questions for me that is."

The principal smiled at them.
Promptly Jocelyn asked, "Are we allowed to decorate?"
Eris internally rolled her eyes at this, but kept a straight, unfeeling mask on. She wasn't in the mood to be lectured by her sister as soon as they were alone.

After Jocelyn was reassured by both Principal Weems and their new 'dorm mom', that decorating was indeed allowed and encouraged, the three of them started, out of the office, through the entrance hall and toward some stairs leading up.
