"You saw that too, right?" I hear a voice say to my left. I squint my eyes, still trying to adjust to the dark. "Yeah... I think so."
Currently, Mono and I are sitting on a tree branch. We met just today, actually. He seems like a cool guy. When we were talking earlier, we heard some rustling from our side. We saw a girl get taken by a much taller guy with a potato sack on his head, bearing one hole...presumably, so he could see.
"We should follow them!" Mono exclaims. I nod my head, watching the pair trail off into the deeper parts of the forest. I get off the branch, and wait for Mono to jump down as well. "Well, what are you waiting for, slow-poke?" I tease. He lightly laughs as he motions for me to follow him. We go deeper into the forest, following the two we saw previously.
"Wait, wait, which way did they go? Do you...uh...do you remember?" He nervously fidgets. I look into the forest and try to retrace the pair's steps. I sit there for a moment, until I shake my head.
"Hmm...well...we can't just give up! We have to- wait! Hold on." Mono motions me over to him as he bends down to examine something. I look at the object. "It's a wire? It looks dangerous, try not to touch it." He jumps over the wire and looks to me to do the same. I nod and swiftly jump over it, as he demonstrated before me.
We continue forward. The traps being our only source of a lead, we follow them. Hopefully we reach the destination soon. These traps are starting to worry me. "Hey, stop! Hold on." Mono puts his arm out in front of me to halt my movements. At first, I'm confused, until he explains.
"I'm pretty sure I just saw something shiny in the leaves, and I can only think of one thing it could be..."
