Eddie's POV:

I awoke to the sound of a car pulling up outside the boathouse. I have no idea who it was or what they were doing here but I needed to protect Kali. She was still sound asleep in my arms and after what she had just told me, I didn't want to disturb her.

We had only fallen asleep a couple of hours ago but it was pitch black outside and I could barely see inside the boathouse. I knew I needed to hide us both.

I quickly scanned the room, looking for anywhere we could hide and that's when I spotted the boat and the tarp that lay across it.

I carefully picked Kali up and carried her bridal style to the boat, gently placing her down on the floor inside it before I climbed in alongside her and pulled the tarp over us both.

Just in time too.

As I pulled Kali into my chest, she began to stir. I gently stroked her hair, shushing her as she opened those beautiful eyes at me "Ed's.. w-what's going on?"

"Shh, it's okay, I just need you to be quiet, can you do that for me sweetheart?" She furrowed her brows at me while slowly nodding her head. I kissed her forehead and lay back against the seat of the boat, grabbing an old broken beer bottle just in case.

Whoever it was that had pulled up outside Ricks house was now inside the boathouse. I could hear muffled voices as my hand gripped tighter around the bottle.

I could see the fear in Kali's eyes as the voices grew closer. I pressed a light kiss to her forehead before shuffling in front of her.

Protecting her was my priority.

The voices were getting louder and I could've sworn that I recognised a few of them but my heart was pounding really loud in my ears because of the adrenaline and I couldn't focus.

Kali grabbed hold of my arm as something started hitting the tarp. The grip she had on my arm got tighter and tighter as her anxiety levels rose.

Fuck this.

I jumped out of the boat and pushed someone against the wall of the boathouse, holding my broken bottle to their throat. I couldn't tell who it was, my eyes were blurry and filled with rage.

I could hear my name being called from behind me but I didn't take my gaze away from the guy in front of me as I answered back "what are you doing here?"

"We're looking for you, we're here to help" the voice behind me spoke. Why would they come here to help? It seems very unlikely.

"Eddie, these are my friends" the voice spoke softly as I slowly turned my head to see who he was talking about. He pointed to a girl who looked to be about Kali's age "you know Robin, from band". Robin.. Steve's friend Robin who came to our gig at the hideout.

My face softened a little.

"This is my friend Max, the one who never wants to play DND" I looked over to the red head stood next to him as she gave me a sheepish wave.

Max. Sweet little red.

I had calmed down enough to realise that we had been found by Kali's friends. Dustin, Max, Robin and... Shit.. Steve.

I was still holding the bottle to his throat as Dustin spoke again "Eddie, we're on your side. I swear on my mother, right guys?"

"Yes. Yes, we swear"

"On Dustin's mother"

"Yeah, Dustin's.. Dustin's mother" Steve spoke softly as he raised his hands above his head. I wasn't sure whether to believe them or not. Until I felt a hand on my arm.

I whipped my head around to see Kali looking between me and the bottle, a soft smile appeared on her face as she spoke "it's okay Ed's, you can let him go".

Steve let out a sigh of relief once I released him from my grip. I moved over to the other side of the boathouse and slid down against the wall. How the fuck was I going to explain this to them?

I could feel the tears pricking my eyes as Kali crouched down beside me. She gently placed her hand on top of mine, giving me the sweetest smile when my eyes met hers.

Dustin crouched down in front of us, followed by Max while Robin and Steve stood behind them. My eyes averted back to the ground. I couldn't bare to look at them all.

"We want to know what happened" Dustin spoke softly as he reached out for my arm. I pulled it back and wiped some tears that had fallen "you won't believe me" I sniffled. How could I expect them to believe me when I don't even believe it myself.

This shit was straight out of a horror movie.

"Try us" my head snapped over to Max. I furrowed my brows at her before looking over to Kali, who gave me a nod "you can tell them Ed's, trust me, they'll believe you".

I nodded back at her and took a deep breath. I was not ready to relive tonight's events, but there had to be some kind of explanation for what happened.

"Her body just, like, lifted up into the air and uh.." I started off hesitantly, flashbacks of Chrissy's body began running through my mind "and she just, like, hung there in the air" I took another shaky breath as I continued on.

Fuck, this was hard.

"And her bones.. Uh, she..." I let out a whimper as I closed my eyes, watching as Chrissy's bones started snapping again "her bones started to snap" it was a sound I'd never be able to forget.

"Her eyes, man. It.. it was like there was something, like, inside her head... pulling" I furrowed my brows together as I spoke. I'd never seen anything so horrifying in my life and yet here I was reliving it.

"I.. I didn't know what to do, so I... I ran away, I left her there" I looked over to Kali as I finished retelling "Kali was there for some of it. I.. I tried to get her to stay but she, uh, she ran right alongside me" another soft smile appeared on her face as she squeezed my arm a little.

She made me feel safe.

I looked back to the rest of the group, "you all think I'm crazy right?" I scoffed as I played with the rings on my fingers. There was no way they'd believe me. "No we don't think you're crazy".

"Don't bullshit me, man! I know how this sounds" I snapped as I looked over to Dustin, who was holding his hands up in surrender, "we're not bullshitting you. We believe you" Max spoke from beside him causing me to look over at her.

"Look, what I'm about to tell you might be a little.. difficult to take" I looked back to Dustin to see him sharing a look with Kali. I saw from the corner of my eye that she nodded at him to continue.

"You know how people say Hawkins is.. cursed. They're not way off". I furrowed my brows even more at the young boy in front of me. I looked around to see everyone else nodding their heads at his words and when I looked over to Kali, she was already staring at me with an apologetic look.

What the fuck were they hiding from me?!
