Kali's POV:So that familiar voice just so happened to be Jason Carver and his basketball cronies. Thankfully we had made it back to the boathouse just as they had unlocked Ricks front door.
I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding while my heart felt like it was about to pound out of my chest. Eddie was crouched down below the window, peaking out to see if they had seen us, luckily they hadn't. Eddie released the grip he had on my hand as we quickly looked for some kind of escape.
We knew it was only a matter of time before they found us, so we needed to get out of here as fast as possible.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to see Eddie holding a finger to his lips before pointing towards the boat.
The boat!
We made quick work of removing the tarp and Eddie held my hand as I climbed inside, grabbing one of the oars as he started to push us out onto the water, as quickly and as quietly as he could.
We had made it about half way across the lake when we heard shouting behind us "hey freak!" both of our heads snapped towards the voice. Jason and Patrick were standing on the shoreline staring at us, I could feel Jason's rage even from all the way out here and fuck, he was pissed.
Did he think Eddie killed Chrissy?
I mean, I wouldn't put it past him. The guy genuinely believes that Eddie runs a satanic cult.
I watched in horror as Jason and Patrick started removing their Letterman jackets before diving into the water. I had no idea what they would do if they caught us, but I couldn't let anything happen to Eds.
I started pulling on the chord of the engine, begging for it to start so we could get away from them quicker, but it was no use. Eddie gently pushed me out of the way, trying the chord one more time "come on. Gotta help me out here man" he started to sweet talk the engine, begging it to start but to no avail "goddamn it! Nope? Okay" he stood back up, grabbing the oar and holding it in the air as the two basketball players closed in on us.
I went to move next to Eddie, oar in hand, to help him fend off the jocks but he grabbed my waist and pushed him behind me.
Always so protective.
"Hey, stay back, man! Stay back" Eddie screamed as he started swinging his oar around. If it wasn't for the fact that we could get beaten up at any second, I'd be incredibly turned on by this.
Who am I kidding?
Protective Eddie is and will always be a turn on.
"Come on. We almost have him" Jason shouted as he turned to see that his friend had stopped swimming towards the boat "hey, Patrick" the fear was present in his voice as he called his friend.
I placed a hand on Eddie's shoulder, peaking round him to see what was happening just as Patrick was pulled under the water. Eddie and I shared a look before we began to search the surface of the water, wondering where the jock had disappeared to.
Our question was answered when Patrick flew out of the water and into the air, floating above us as we all watched on in horror.
Shit. Shit. Shit. It was happening again.
Both Eddie and I fell back into the water when Patrick's bones started to snap, the sound echoing throughout the empty lake. When we resurfaced I felt frozen, all I could do was watch in horror as his bones snapped one by one before his body finally hit the water again.
"Kali, sweetheart we need to go" Eddie whispered as he grabbed my hand, lifting me back into the boat before rowing us both to shore. I couldn't tear my eyes away from Jason, pulling his friends now dead body back to shore while shouting his name.
Two victims.
How many more would there be?
When we reached the shore, Eddie lifted me out of the boat and placed me on the ground before covering the boat over with the tarp we had taken with us.
I still felt frozen, unable to move or speak. Jason had witnessed Vecna's attack first hand, surely he would ease up off of Eddie now?
"Come on sweetheart" Eddie spoke softly as he grabbed my hand and started pulling me into the woods. I had no idea where we were going, I couldn't see anything in the pitch black darkness but Eddie seemed to know exactly where he was going.
After walking for a little while we arrived at skull rock. A small chuckle escaped my lips when I realised that we were at the most famous make out spot in Hawkins.
Curtesy of Steve Harrington.
"If you wanted to make out Ed's, you could've just asked" I continued to chuckle as we settled onto the floor underneath the rock, "what can I say?" Eddie chuckled as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder "I thought this would be the perfect place for a little late night make out" he wiggled his eyebrows at me, causing me to break out into a fit of laughter.
That was one of Eddie's many gifts. Always being able to make me laugh, even in the darkest times.
He pulled his pocket knife out from his leather jacket, the blade shining in the moonlight as he started carving onto the rock behind us.
EM + KOD
I watched in awe as he carved our initials into the rock, finishing it off with a small heart underneath. He was fucking adorable.
Eddie's eyes met mine, a smile appearing on that perfect face as he put his knife back in his pocket. I felt his hands cup my face and I leaned into his touch, "it's you and me forever O'Donnell" he smiled as he leaned in a pressed his lips to mine.
"Set in stone Munson" I smiled back as we rested our foreheads against each other. Eddie's thumb slowly ran across my cheek, rubbing it gently as he continued to hold my face. The smell of cigarettes and cologne filled my nose as we stayed sat like this. The only sound around us was the rustling of leaves against the wind.
It was peaceful.
It was perfect.
This was another moment that I never wanted to end. Eddie was my endgame, there was no doubt in my mind about that. Us two against the world, just as it always should've been.
I lifted my head and ran my fingers across the carving, the smile never leaving my face as I thought back to his words.
Forever.
If only I could've prepared myself for what would happen next. I really wish it could have been forever, but all good things come to an end.
