CHAPTER4 Night of Freedom
"Close your mouth while eating, Dylan." I said in annoyance as he chomped down on his sandwich.
Instead of doing what I asked he opened his mouth so I could see his chewed up food. I grimaced and punched his arm. "Stop!"
We bickered for awhile before Andrew sat down across from me. Andrew has been a good friend of mine since we moved here a few years ago. I was never good at making friends with girls.
Of course it's because I've been raised with boys all my life so I could never quite understand a girl's need for drama and make up.
I've just always gotten along with boys better. They don't feel the need to keep secrets but tell you straight up what's on their mind. The world would be better if everyone thought that way.
"I heard the science trip will take place in Harmony Woods next week." Andrew said as he took his lunch out of a brown bag.
Harmony Woods is probably the biggest hot spot in the summer time. It's the perfect place to spend a summer if you're wanting to getaway from life. It's almost like our own little Disney World.
"Thank The Lord for Mr. Kessenger." I said. "I can't believe Mrs. Brown took us to the Potato Museum last year."
"Ah, come on!" Dylan said with a laugh. "It was awesome! We got free bags full of potato chips!"
I shrugged and ran a hand throug my hair. "That doesn't make up for the five hours we were stuck there."
As the lunch line begins to die down, I held my hand out for money from Dylan. The boys never let me handle my own money in fear that I would lose it. Now it's this kind of thing that makes me furious with them and the way they treat me.
I stood up and made my way to the lunch line only to be stopped by Strider and his three followers. They rudely cut me off as I try to make it to the lunch line.
I rolled my eyes at Strider when he gave me a sly smile and a wink.
That's when one of Strider's friends noticed me and gave me a pointed look. "You must be Allie Hill."
I frowned and looked up at him. "No. I'm Alissa Hope."
"Oh, that's what I meant." He chuckled. "You're Strider's little play thing, aren't you."
My eyes had widen in disbelief at his words and I immediatly hit Strider in the arm. "You called me your 'play thing'!" I nearly shouted.
He rolled his eyes and seemed as if it were no big deal. Oh, but boy believe me! It was a big deal. I didn't want people thinking that I had been messing around with him. He may be new here but he had already became the quite the fuckboy.
"I didn't call you my 'play thing'." He answered while throwing his friend a look. Strider seemed to be quite annoyed with everyone so he didn't stay long to chat and quickly got out of line after his statement.
I pushed a hand through my hair and glanced at where Sam was sitting with his friends. I smiled when I saw him push his dorky little glasses back into place on his nose. He was honestly the most adorable boy I had ever seen and I was happy that he had not given up on asking me out. Most boys don't even try anymore in fear of my brothers stepping in.
"You got a little thing for that nerd?"
I snapped out of my thoughts and looked back to Strider's friend who was leaning against the wall, waiting patiently for the lunch line to move.
