Chapter3: You'll Be The Death of Me

Strider stares at me with a treacherous smile that chills me. His expression makes me weary as I shut the door and uncomfortably walk past him.

"I need to ask you for a favor." He says as we walk into the kitchen.

"What no? Why?"

"Come on. It's just a small favor." He urges as he follows behind me.

"No. I don't even really know you." I answer simply. He can't expect me to just do him a favor if I don't even know the guy. And to be quite honest, I don't really want to help him. He's a jerk and severely self-centered and that's someone I don't want to be around.

"I'll pay you." He says trying to catch my eye.

When he says this, he sparks my interest. "How much?"

"Thirty dollars."

I tap my chin as if in thought and then smile. "Okay, but first, what is the favor?"

"I need you to pretend you are my girlfriend tomorrow night."

I make a face and shake my head. "Um, no, gross."

"Come on. There's this girl that's going to be at a party tomorrow night and she will not leave me alone. I just want her to see that I am not interested."

"Look, I can't. Even if I wanted to, I can't. My brothers would never let me go to a party, let alone with a guy." I answered truthfully. They'd probably sacrifice one another before letting me go.

"Don't tell them you're going to a party." He said in a 'duh' tone. "Say you're going to the library."

My eyes widen. "You mean lie? But I've never lied to them ... ever!"

"There's always a first time for everything."

"Hey, sis. Can you grab me a Dr. Pepper?" Dylan shouts from his room.

"Make that two." Levi adds.

I sigh and drop my pencil from where I was doing my homework. "You boys have legs you know!" I say peeking out of bedroom.

"But they're broken!"

I roll my eyes and walk downstairs. If I weren't here, the boys wouldn't be able to survive.

I grab them both a Dr. Pepper and take it up to them. They both give me big smiles before indulging themselves back into the game.

Strider looks back at me with his eyebrows raised as if asking a question but I haven't completely made up my mind yet whether I should go through with his plan or not.

It wouldn't be very smart of me and I would feel so insanely guilty if I lied to my brothers. I look away from him and stare at the screen.

But then again I've never been to a party before and before I graduate I would like to know what a high school party is like. I can at least have that expericence, right?

I look back at Strider to see him running his hands through his hair as he watches my brothers play NBA2k14. I turn to get his attention when suddenly my phone begins to ring.

I take my phone out off pocket and frown at the unknown number. "Hello?"

"Is this Alissa Hope?"
