CHAPTER2: If I Could Fly

"Wake up, Alissa. Oh, my gosh! If we're late to school today I swear I'll push you down the stairs."

I chuckle at Levi's threat and rub my eyes. I glance over at my clock that reads 7:46. I sit up and stretch my back. Levi watches me to make sure I will get up before nodding with satisfaction. He then leaves to go wake Dylan up which we all know will be quite the joyride.

I shove my hand through my hair as I walk to the bathroom where I freshen up and get dressed. I'm ready and in the kitchen before Dylan is even up.

Levi comes down the stairs with an exasperated sigh and throws his hands in the air with defeat. "We'll just have to leave him here because I'm not going to be late for my science exam."

In case it's not obvious, Levi absolutely has to be on top of his academics. He'd live in the library if the school would let him. I've given him permission.

After I've brushed my hair and teeth, Levi and I grab our book bags and head towards the car. The drive to the school takes no longer than ten minutes and once we arrive Levi lets out a breath of relief.

We're here twenty minutes early. Sometimes I consider murdering my brothers but then I remind myself that I'm just tired and not to jump into things during this state.

I drag myself into the school and down the halls to my locker. Andrew, my best and only friend, skids down the hall with as much as excitement as the student body on pizza day.

"I passed the History exam!" He exclaims proudly as he stops before me. "That means I get to go on the Wax Museum trip!"

I huff and lean against the lockers. "I have to take that exam today." I adjust my book bag on my shoulder and rub my eyes.

Andrew frowns at me, his face growing serious. "What's wrong, Alissa?"

I immediately try to perk up with a small smile. "Nothing. Just a rough night."

As I take books out of my bag, I listen to Andrew go on about his date that he had the other night. Fortunately Andrew landed a date last week which made my brothers feel better because Dylan absolutely hated the fact that my only friend was a boy.

All three of the boys believed that Andrew was going after me but I assured them he and I were just friends. If we would've tried to push for anything more, we would've done it a few years ago.

"Well I'm glad it went well." I smiled genuinely.

Suddenly I notice our vice principle shouting angrily down the hall. Andrew and I immediately head down toward the shouting with interest.

When we turn the corner we are both surprised to see VP Banks ripping a large boy off of Hunter Lowes who is crumpled on the ground.

When Banks angrily grabs the strange boy away from Hunter and turns him around to face him, I feel my chest tighten at the sight of the boy. His piercing blue eyes are as mischievous as it gets and could unsnap a bra within a glance.

The boy is undoubtedly handsome but its clear he's no good. He doesn't even seem to notice Banks yelling at him. Instead he mindlessly looks around at all the new faces he would be seeing everyday.
