season 1, episode 4 pt.1
Charlotte sat next to Ajax in botanical studies and didn't bother to even look at him. He saw that and was left to sulk beside her. She would eventually forgive him, but she wanted to see him squirm a bit. Maybe Wednesday was rubbing off on her a little bit.
"While most plants reward their pollinators with sweet nectar, many carnivorous varieties turn to sexual trickery or deception. The orchid produces a pheromone that mimics a female insect, luring the males in. Now, once the plant is pollinated, what do the males get in exchange?" Thornhill ends by asking.
"Nada. Just like all the guys at the Rave'N" Bianca says causing everyone to laugh. Charlotte nods in agreement.
"Okay, okay. I know your all excited about Saturday, which is why I haven't assigned any homework" Charlotte silently cheers. "But, I do still need volunteers for the decorating committee" Charlotte rolls her eyes. Last year she did it and almost broke on ankle on a ladder.
Charlotte stayed put while people crowded around Thornhill's desk. Ajax saw and his eyebrows furrowed.
"You're not going to do it this year?" He asks her. Charlotte clenches her jaw.
"Not really feeling excited this year" She managed to say before she ran out of the room.
She didn't know where she was going until her eyes landed upon her brother's art shed. She patiently waited for him to show so he could unlock it. When he arrived he looked at his sister in confusion.
"I need help" She said. He nodded and quickly brought her into the small building.
However, as soon as he turned on the light she saw the hundreds of paintings of the monster. Her eyes widened. "What the fuck" She says.
Xavier looks at her and sees the pure fear in her eyes. His face softens immediately and he turns off the light.
"Char, I promise it's not what it looks like" He walked closer to her. "Then what is it, Xavier? How do you know what the monster looks like?" She basically yelled. Xavier slightly flinched he had never been yelled at by Charlotte.
"It's been haunting my dreams. You know what I dream I usually paint. When I was painting one it reached out and scratched my neck" Xavier explains. Charlotte nods and takes a shaky breath.
She pulls her brother in for a hug. "I'm not scared of you by the way" She reassures him. "I know" Xavier says back.
"I gotta go, but I'll be right back if you want to stay here" Xavier says once they pull away from the hug. Charlotte nods. "I don't think I want to be alone with these" She says pointing around her. Xavier laughs and they both walk out.
