Chapter Fifty
Kyra Young
Atlanta, Georgia - Two Weeks Later, 3:47AM

It's been two weeks and I haven't seen my daughter. I haven't heard her laugh, her cry, and that baby talk that she thinks we understand. I don't know if she's doing anything new. If she's adjusting to not being fed from my body. I need my baby.

I stare at her pictures all day and all night. I watch videos and just cry and cry until I'm all cried out. The number my mom called from, I call just to see if she'll answer but I get nothing.

We should've kept our guard up.

How did we let this happen? Maybe we just never expected her to take Kyler. But this is the same woman that almost burned my dads house down and broke into my house. I shouldn't have put anything past her.

Pulling into my driveway, I exhaled while cutting the car off. Taking the blunt out of my cup holder, I lit it and took a pull. I'm so stressed out, I can't eat, can't sleep. All I do, is smoke and wander. Lately I've been driving around for hours, going to places that my mom used to go, hoping that she'd be there but she never is. I'm really starting to believe that she left Georgia and if that's the case, I'm really going to lose my mind.

Once my blunt was finished, I made my way inside. The house was black besides the kitchen. My plan was to head upstairs but instead, I went there.

Eric is zoned out most of the time. We barely speak to one another besides asking if we're okay. Some days I wish I could read his mind too see what he's really thinking about. Speaking of Eric, he sat at the island just staring down at the marble. His head rested against his hands and an empty glass and a bottle of Dusse sat next to him.

My hand rested on his back to get his attention but he never looked up.

"Eric."

"Yeah?"

"Wanna go upstairs? I know you're probably exhausted."

He shook his head. "Im good."

"Have you eaten?"

Eric looked over at me. "Have you?"

"No but I'll try if you try."

He didn't say anything but that just meant that he agreed. I went over to the refrigerator and pulled out whatever I could find. We needed groceries bad but that was the least of my worries. "You think we gone get her back?" Eric asked making me look over at him.

"Yeah, I have to think positive. I know she'll be here with us where she's supposed to be."

"If only I would've set that alarm."
