Omega stared in awe as they approached the planet that Tech had referred to as Kaller. She pressed her hand to the smooth glass window, feeling the instant cold. The clouds around were no longer wispy and fluffy, instead, they appeared much thicker and darker but still just as beautiful. Tearing her gaze away from her window, Omega darted down the ladder as she felt the Marauder lower to the ground. She had only read about snow, now she was going to experience it.
Hunter jumped out of the way as Omega came running through. "Whoa, slow down there." He gently caught her arm causing her to come to a stop.
"Can I pleaseee go outside?" Omega whined, cutting glances to the door.
Hunter smiled warmly. He loved that she still got excited over every new adventure. "Well, you can't go outside in just that." He gestured to her clothes.
Omega looked down at her short-sleeved shirt and lightweight pants, feeling slightly embarrassed. "Oh, right." She rushed back to her room leaving Hunter chuckling as he entered the cockpit where Tech sat surrounded by Echo, Wrecker, and Crosshair.
"What's going on?" The sergeant examined each face of his brothers, all held either a sense of annoyance or concern.
Tech handed him his datapad. "There appears to be a snowstorm coming in the next hour or two. I suggest that we hold off on the mission until tomorrow."
"Cid's not going to like that," Echo muttered. "Remember what happened the last time?"
Wrecker shuddered. "I don't wanna think about that."
"So you want us to lose out on credits?" Crosshair slid his toothpick to the other side of his lips as he crossed his arms loosely.
Tech turned his head sharply, glaring at the sniper. "Of course not. I simply care for our team's safety. Don't you?"
Crosshair rolled his eyes, leaning back further into the wall.
Hunter nodded, a slight grimace on his face. He had hoped to get the mission over with as soon as possible. They needed the credits badly and the more missions they could take on the better. However, he was more concerned about his squad's safety as Tech had mentioned. Sighing he sat down, running a hand through his hair. "I'll call Cid later tonight. She'll understand."
"Hmm, good luck. That woman's crazy," Echo commented as he walked out of the cockpit.
Hunter shook his head. If anyone, he knew how absurd Cid could be. "Speaking of snow," he said, redirecting his focus to Wrecker. "I promised Omega that she could go out for a bit. I need you to go with her."
Wrecker stood up with a large smile full of excitement. "You got i—"
"I need Wrecker here," Tech interjected. "The defrosters on the wings broke and if you want to leave tomorrow I need to fix them immediately."
"Aw, but I wanna go out!"
"Stop acting childish, Wrecker. Besides, you will be outside."
Wrecker waved him off as he slumped into his chair. "You know what I mean!"
"And why can't you take her, Hunter? She's your kid anyways." Crosshair pointed a demanding finger at the sergeant.
Hunter stood up. He wasn't looking for a fight, especially after having to be on Kaller a day longer than needed to be. "I need to scout out the path before the snow sets in. The map we have is outdated." Hunter motioned with his head towards the door. "I would have asked Echo, but with his cybernetics that might make it difficult for him. He'll already have to be back out there tomorrow."
"How considerate," Crosshair sneered.
Tech tossed the moody sniper a pair of gloves, earning him a confused look. "It seems like an obvious choice. You're the only one without any task."
