"Shit," I swear, glaring at the door sitting just twenty feet away, completely inaccessible.
"What about the east area, maybe we'll get lucky like with this one and find an ID bracelet over there?" Claire proposes quickly.
Skirting to the panel opposite of this one, where I press the button and the bridge opens at her suggestion. "Nothing else we can do but try," I agree, and we hurry across the bridge. Into the same east area, the system said Dr. Li was requested to arrive somewhere in.
There's a buzzing of bugs and a large stream of air being released from a white mesh covered pipe collapsed through the ceiling just around a corner to our left. The impact of the two large panels destroyed two matching black, leather sofas placed within the small space, blocking off a door beside them. I'd guess from the state of the pipe, it must've fallen when something crawled through it. Leading to the disastrous collapse.
Am I crazy or is there foliage of some kind dangling from the ceiling? Great. What the hell could that be attached to?
We enter the lobby to the find the room in chaos. Medicine bottles are tipped over, having leaked what is now dry fluid onto the counter. A cabinet behind the main desk is open with its contents raided. The coffee table in the middle of the room has papers scattered all over and some of the lights in the back corner are flickering.
There are two doors, one straight ahead and another to the right with a raided vending machine beside it. Looks like there were survivors here, in the same shape we'd been in. Good. I hope these bastards starved for days on end like the rest of us did.
"Forward?" I ask Claire.
"Yeah," she agrees and we step through the door. It's then I see an Umbrella logo plastered on the wall perpendicular to the door. All I can think of until it's out of sight is how I want to burn it.
The next room is almost enshrouded in shadow when we enter. The wall of windows in front of us allows us to see into the next room. We observe what appears to be an overgrown plant with vines and roots stretching across and dangling from the roof all the way to the ground inside. The impossible thing to miss or not say anything about is the dead body in a hazmat suit flattened against the glass by the plant. The safety mask is covered with blood and the glass is cracked where it rots against it undisturbedly.
Claire puts a hand to her mouth in anguish, "Oh god, that's terrible."
I have much different thoughts to the sight though. Probably got exactly what they deserved working in this place. I have no sympathy. In the right hand is a purple, blinking chip in a bracelet. Pointing at it, "That'll give us access to the west area."
"Yeah... but how do we get the body down?"
That I have no clue myself, I'd take a more than likely guess the body had been crushed by the plant. I doubt we'd be able to pull it down with how tightly wedged to the glass it appears from here. "I don't know, there should be a room that goes into this one nearby, let's see if we can find anything in there," we head to the rooms only other door, across from a podium with another Umbrella logo.
The door slides, stopping with a whirring of the hydraulics working harder to pry open. Leafy, green vines can be seen in what little of the doorway is open and past that the entire room is infested. The overgrowth and volatile nature of the plant is exactly like the one encountered in the Arklay mountains. Plant 42 is what they'd named that one. Wonder what the name of this one is. If that mansion and this city's destruction proves anything, it's that this company doesn't learn from its mistakes. Nor does it care to, even at the cost of the loss of one of the main cities it worked out of in this country.
