The train jostles us back and forth softly as we make our way through the car. We're quiet the entire time, the hairs on my body stand on end in the cool air of the train and my heart pounds in dread. Leon aims the shotgun I'd tucked back into my duffel bag after he'd dropped it while fighting the Tyrant. I'm aiming my stolen handgun, sad that I lost the other, knowing I'll never see it again. Never see Kendo again to have another gun made for me, never see his family again, or Rita... or Marvin.

It's just like the mansion, thinking about all who were lost and we'd never see again as the only survivors flew away.

We pass through that first car with no occurrences. Nothing drops from the ceiling, attacks from the floor, or pops out of nowhere to kill us. But I'm not satisfied, and neither is Leon as we reach the door and look behind us.

Making eye contact just as there's another warning from overhead. "Warning. Biohazardous outbreak imminent. The emergency system has been activated; train cars will detonate until contained. Repeat: Train cars will detonate until contained."

"Detonate?" Leon repeats the warning, "The cars are going to blow up?"

"Until it contains the culprit," I see the alarm going off in his head at the words. "Whatever it is, if we kill it fast enough the car behind us should be safe," I don't want to admit I'm not entirely one-hundred percent confident in my own words.

We continue on into the next car, knowing that whatever caused that rocking has to be further up ahead.

We're nearing the exit into the third car when the thudding begins, "What..." I start—

There's an animalistic groan and a screech of metal as something crashes into the door, again, and again. Until the doors dent in towards us, and from a crack in the damaged doors pops out something in the shape of a crab pincers—

Then the entire wall is coming down and we're backing up as fast as we can to get out of the way as a creature emerges from the other compartment. As soon as it enters something starts spreading on the walls, the ceiling, the floor. Like shining, stringy vines covered in some kind of slime, black and pink. But of course, that's not the focal point. Tentacles, arms accompanied by those same crablike pincers, and a gaping hole lined with teeth similar to the ones within William's chest back in the bioreactors room are observed by us...

No.

That's when I spot an eyeball staring at us from one of the arms grabbing the ceiling. That mass of white is a faint form of the head from before too. I thought I'd killed him in that room?

"Does this thing ever quit?" I demand, taking in the blob state it's mutated into. In parts of the arms its heaving itself forward with, I spot massive lumps under the skin in the shape of human remains: bodies that'd been absorbed into the skin.

"Are those..." Leon asks, just as horrified as I am at the sight of that and the bones of dissolving body parts simmering just beneath the skin of that sickeningly black surface.

"Oh god," I cover my mouth for a second, then gain my bearings and aim my gun at him. Firing, unloading the magazine because I don't know what else to do. Leon fires several shotgun shells into that hole, but no matter how much we fire, it just keeps coming. An eye the size of the hole emerges and the teeth stick out, but it's no use.

Leon's shotgun clicks empty and he's reduced to his handgun, I load the last handgun magazine I collected into my gun and keep firing desperately alongside him. We keep backing up to put distance between us and that thing until—
