I loved how her eyes danced merrily
And the gentle way she spoke;
The way she filled my aimless days
With bitterness and hope
I loved her as I fell asleep,
And each morning as I woke;
I loved her with all my wayward heart---
Untill the day it broke...
Raghav looked at her eyes, limpid pools of swirling pain. She was standing only a few feet away but the distance suddenly felt like lightyears. And the time passing through them had crossed eons. He could feel the heat of the sulphur beat a fatal rhythm against his temple. He knew his gun like the back of his hand. He knew what she likes, how she runs, each and every shot sounding like a satisfied purr beneath his familiar fingers make her sound like a pleased lover than a smoking firearm.
And maybe that is why, his gun knew him as well. She knew the skin pressed against her barrel isn't the one she wishes to pierce. She is revolting in his hand. Crying as much as the slender woman facing him. He reitered an apology to his other lover in his mind. Today she would have to take the life of her master.
Mandaar looked suitably impressed. Atleast he pretended to. He was holding the knife pressed to her creamy throat with the precision of an experienced killer. Raghav knew Mandaar knew how to kill. What amount of pressure and the right interim time needed to slash someone's throat open. He fingered the trigger and saw her beautiful grey brown eyes widen.
He saw her lips quiver. In fright. In agony. In a wild temperence of a labouring bird. How he had dreamed to kiss those plump petals! How he had wished to taste her annoying strawberry lipbalm and drink in her guttural moans like a thirsty vagabond left too long in the desert. He wanted to meld her under his skin so that he himself couldn't hurt her. He wanted to kiss those tears away from her cheeks and hold her close to his fatigued heart.
Alas! In another life my love...
He is the thought behind the feeling,
The swelling in my chest;
The starlight in the evening,
The yearning when I undress.
He is the sound behind the sighing,
The song of every bird;
The tears in all my crying----
The ache in every word.
Pallavi saw her husband's mind working a mile a minute. She could swear she travelled along his speedy thoughts and could literally feel her heart stop along with him as they simultaneously reached the conclusion. He will shoot. Her heart leapt to her throat, aching, screaming, shouting...
She could feel her own blood trickle down the base of her collarbone as the knife pressed cruelly against her sensitive skin. Disgust roiled inside her gut making her feel as if ants were running all over her skin as she felt Mandaar's hands press her closer to his bruised body. She had been struggling before but as the knife started getting too close for comfort, her survival instincts kicked close to freeze her voluntary muscles.
She saw Raghav gaze into her eyes. The agony palpable, a remorse so gut deep that it tore into her throat, clawed at her tear glands. She felt like a fish out of water. She saw him curling his fingers round that damnable trigger and her breaths froze in her chest. This can't be happening. They were supposed to win this. They were supposed to have defeated this monster. She felt her lips tremble and his eyes became bright. A film of tears.
An apology. He was leaving her. He was going to shoot himself. He was jumping off the precipice of that fathomless abyss, ripping her soul away from the dead cage of her body to take with him.
"Raghav!"
"I love you."
A gunshot rang in the house yet all it's residents heard two hearts writhe, struggle, crack, shatter and crumble till it came to a dead stop.

A/N:-
Sorry for the ending but I couldn't stop thinking about this since the promo of Raghav about to shoot himself in the head had come out. Hope you all like it still. The poems are by Lang Leav.
