The fight with Jeff's Pack is imminent and Louis is scared like never before. Although the Alphas have been training from morning till evening over the last few months, hardly taking a break, Louis can't shake off his worries. There's no way he can lose Harry. Especially since Louis has felt and smelled how much Harry is upset since the trial, suffering from the fact that he no longer has his fairy magic and wings. In the beginning they talked about it almost every day. Harry, who never shows his Alpha's weak side in front of the others, now all wolf, has often cried in the private of their room in Louis' embrace, trying to explain to him that he feels an emptiness inside and he can't get used to the thought that he'll never again feel the tingling in his fingertips or that comforting sense of pride when he's been able to help someone with his concoctions. Louis often just listened, stroked and kissed him and tried to give him comfort. Because what else could he say or do? He doesn't know what it's like to give away a part of himself, but he can guess how bad it must be. He imagines it as if he would have to give up Harry, the piece of the puzzle to his own heart and the thought alone is unbearable. But then at some point Harry fell silent and didn't say anything more on the subject, he closed himself off to it and immersed himself in the training for hours. But Louis knows his mate and knows that it still burdens him.
Louis has only about two months until the birth and his tummy is round as a ball. Walking is often difficult for him, he feels more than unsexy when he waddles with his stomach around and even Harry's compliments on how beautiful he looks can't change that. He knows he's gained some weight, his cheeks and ass are fuller and he hasn't seen his feet in ages.
When they were out with the pack again at full moon recently, the two separated at some point. The wild play of the others was not for Louis and Harry had quickly asked Krystal's permission to move away. They had then gone to their clearing in the forest, the meadows and forests now covered with snow that glittered magically in the light of the full moon. The blanket of snow crackled softly under their paws and the cold winter wind blew across their thick fur. First they stood close together on the meadow and watched the moon while fine snowflakes trickled down on them. After a while Louis had let himself fall in the middle of the field and lay on his side, his tummy visible in the form of a wolf too. Harry had immediately laid down and snuggled up to him, keeping his pregnant Omega warm. They cuddled together, licked each other's ears and snouts - enjoyed their own little winter world, lost in themselves.
Louis is reminiscing about that full moon as he builds his new nest. His instinct has been screaming at him ever since he got up, craving that he needs a safer nest to retreat to for the last few months. Harry went out to practice again a few minutes ago and Louis has since then been collecting everything he wants to use in one big pile. Blankets, his beloved pillows, the many shirts Harry had worn, the sweat jacket from back then and he even goes so far as to take off the bed sheet and use it as well. Louis sniffs it to check, but is satisfied when their mingled scents from the previous nights combine beautifully. He quietly hums a lullaby that his mother sang to him as a pup and keeps stroking his round belly while he thinks about the perfect spot. Finally he has the idea. He quickly takes the many blankets that will serve as a base and goes to the bathroom. He folds the blankets into a square and places them on the shower floor. Then he gets the bed sheet and puts it over the blanket, straightening it over and over again until there are no more wrinkles and he is satisfied. After that he fetches his pillows and places them around the three shower walls. It already looks wonderfully cozy and Louis' Omega celebrates inwardly at the thought of retiring here from now on.
Finally, he gets the shirts, which he folds neatly and also puts on the pillows or in the nest. He lays the sweat jacket on top because he always likes to put it on and therefore it doesn't need a fixed place. But Louis is not quite satisfied. He taps his lip with his finger and looks critically at the nest, imagining what could make it even cozier, and then has an idea. He goes to his closet and fiddles around in one of the drawers until he finds what he's looking for: two fairy lights. He takes them and a chair into the bathroom. Louis puts the chair down in front of the shower to get up to the end of the shower walls. He moves slowly and carefully to not lose his balance as he hangs the strings of lights around the top of the shower. Finally, he checks whether the power cable reaches the socket and when everything fits and the chain of lights above his new nest lights up, he grins broadly and proudly looks at his work.
