Butterflies dance aggressively around my stomach as I knock on the foreign large oak door in-front of me, I can't help but smile at the pastel pink coloured wreath hung upon it. I've only been here once before, mostly because Cole and I agreed that it was for the best if we keep our lives as separate as possible.
The door swings open, the dark-haired boy's face in-front of me falls slightly when he notices me standing there, 'Hello?'
'Hey stranger, how are you on this fine winter evening?'
His eyebrows knit together, 'Are you drunk?'
'W-What? No.'
He looks at me unsurely, 'Why are you here?'
'Oh!' I exclaim as I attempt to move the large sack into his line of vision, 'I'm here to give you this!'
He gives me a small smile but I know that it's fake, I've memorised his true smile, like it was the back of my hand.
'Thanks.'
'So, what are you doing this evening?'
He rubs the back of his neck, 'My mom is having Belle over for a sleepover tonight, they like to do it once a month, they paint each others nails and watch movies.'
My heart warms, 'I always liked your mom.'
'Well, she liked you too.'
'So, your all alone in your bachelor pad? Are you having any lady friends over?'
Cole raises his eyebrow, 'I'm not standing here and discussing my sex life with you.'
'Why not?'
'Because it's weird, we used to be...you know.'
I roll my eyes, 'Together?'
'Exactly. I don't care how long it's been, I still don't want to hear about you and other guys.'
An unfamiliar feeling spreads throughout my stomach, 'Oh.'
'Is there anything you want?'
I quickly nod, 'There is actually, I wanted to know what date this Christmas party is on.'
'It's the eighteenth.'
My eyes widen considerably, 'That's in two fucking days, thank you for giving a girl a little bit of notice!'
'I was doing to text you about it, but I forgot.'
'So, what's the plan? Are you picking me up? Am I meeting you there?'
'We'll get a cab, I'll pick you up on route to the party.'
'Sounds good.'
'I guess if that's all-'
I cut him off, 'A-Actually, I was wondering, if we could talk about what you're getting Belle for Christmas, just so that we don't end up getting the same things.'
'Yeah sure. I have a list in my bedroom, you can wait inside while I get it.'
'I-I can?'
He rolls his eyes, 'Yes, just don't make this weird.'
'I won't, I promise.'
He moves out of the way so that I can step inside, it's still exactly how I remember it. The entire house was the definition of cosy and quaint and I simply adored it, you could tell that this was a house that was filled with love and memories.
'The living room is through there.' He says as he points to the second door on the left.
I nod as I begin to take of my coat, 'I remember.'
