I wrap my red leather jacket more firmly around my body as the wind begins to pick up, Oliver glances down at me with a confused expression.

'Remind me how you've somehow convinced me to go to this?'

'My good looks and charm?'

'No that can't be right.'

'My inability to hear the word no?'

'Bingo.'

'You clean up well by the way.' I say softly, and I wasn't lying I was used to seeing him in a baggy over-sized t-shirt with black tracksuit bottoms but tonight he decided to push the boat out and wear a white-shirt with some cargo pants.

'I wish I could say the same to you, the 90's called they want their fashion back.'

I gasp loudly as I look down at my outfit I was wearing chunky brown boots, with sheer black tights, a red checked skirt along with a white turtle neck.  To accessorise I decided to pair the assemble with a red leather jacket and a stretchy white Alice headband.

'I look extremely cute, I'll have you know!'

'Whatever you want to believe blondie.'

I roll my eyes as we begin to talk into the town-hall, immediate dread seeps into my stomach as I gently tug on Oliver's elbow.

'Everyone's old.'

'Obviously, what twenty year olds go speed dating?'

'Why did you let me come here?'

'I didn't, you insisted!'

'Well you should have stopped me from insisting.'

'I've tried, it doesn't work.'

'Some of these men are old enough to be my dad...maybe even grandad at a push.'

Oliver shrugs, 'I don't mind an older woman.'

'There's a difference between an older woman and someone who is about to set up their retirement plan.'

He shoves his hands into his pockets, 'Okay, what do you want to do?'

'Subtly try to leave without drawing any attention to ourselves.'

'Are you sure you even know how to do that?'

'Ha you're hilarious, let's go.' I mutter as I grab his elbow and pull him out of the over-packed town hall.

'Well I cancelled my plans for that, so I hope you're happy.'

'I'm sorry do you want to go on a date with someone who uses false teeth?'

'Well no.'

'Then I think the words you're looking for here are thank you.'

'Why the hell would I thank you?'

'I just saved your ass.'

'But if you didn't insist that I come with you, I wouldn't need to have been saved.'

I sigh loudly, 'There is just no pleasing you is there?'

'Not when you're involved.'

'Come on!' I chirp happily as I begin to race down the street, I turn my head when I hear loud footsteps running behind me.

'Where are we going?'

'I want Taco's and you're accompanying me because I know for a fact you now have no plans tonight, so your excuses will be rendered useless.'
