Dazai's POV It was the first day of kindergarten, and it was currently recess. I was sitting by myself in the sandbox. I didn't mind too much though, because I've never really had any friends to hang out with. My neighbor's didn't have any kids to play with, and my mother's friends didn't have any either. I was thinking about what I would do with my spare time after school, when some ginger boy stomped up to me. "Hey! This is MY sandbox!", he yelled. "Says who?", I calmly replied looking up to him. He had ocean blue eyes, and orange peel hair. He appeared to be wearing a navy blue uniform, that belonged to a different school. "Well, I guess I could share this time", he tchd as he sat down next to me in the sandbox. "What's your name?", the ginger boy looked at me and asked. "Dazai. Osamu", I muttered softly. I didn't mean anything rude by it, I was just shy. "Dazai? That's cool. Mine is Chuuya. Chuuya Nakahara.", Chuuya introduced. "So what are you doing here alone?", he questioned. "I don't have any friends", I told him. "That changes now. I'll be your friend!" I looked at him surprised. My friend? What are friends like? "And since we're friends, you can play in my sandbox with me now!" he grinned at me. I smiled to myself and buried my head in my arms.
A friend....
I felt so happy to finally have a friend. "Would you like to have a lollipop? I have some extra ones in my bag," Chuuya dug in his backpack. "Yes please," I responded. I loved lollipops. They were my favorite candy. "Good, because I'd give it to you even if you said no", the ginger boy said as he handed me a chocolate flavored lollipop. "So it looks like you go to Sunnyside Elementary, do you? Judging by your uniform." Chuuya asked me. "Yes", I responded. "I go to Riverside Elementary. As you can see it's right next to yours, and we even share the playground." he mentioned to me. "Chuuya" I looked at him with a soft smile, "Thank you for being my friend" "W-well of course!" Chuuya stuttered.
RIIIIIIING!!!
"Oh! That's the bell, Dazai!" Chuuya said. "I can't wait to see you tomorrow! You better meet me here at the sandbox!" He hugged me. "Goodbye!" He yelled as he ran off. "See you!!" I yelled back. I can't wait to see you either, I thought as I walked back into the school building.
