"The whole week?"
"I feel responsible for him now."
"Killer, a week is a very long time for you. With how easily you get distracted, I'm not sure if it's wise-"
"Boss, please." Killer looked down. "I need to do this. You can moniter me, make sure I don't screw up, and if I do, Dust can take my place. But I have to do something for him, please."
Nightmare leaned back in his chair. Killer had been acting strangely since the incident. First, he'd cleaned the room that Blue had been found in without question. Next, there had been the hug between him and Blue, much more tender and sincere than Nightmare had thought Killer was capable of. Once Blue had gone back off to rest, Killer had, without even being told to, gone through the whole kitchen and removed anything he thought would hurt Blue. The knives were locked up and the key was given to Horror, and Nightmare took the coffee machine up to his office, as he was the only one who used it anyway. Even last night, Nightmare had felt Killer moving around the castle, as if checking on other rooms, just to make sure. Nightmare didn't know exactly what had gotten into Killer, but at least he seemed dedicated to something that wasn't murder.
"Alright. You can watch over Blue for a week. But then you have to hand it off to someone else, alright?"
"Thank you." Killer got up and dashed off in the direction of Blue's room. Nightmare sighed. Hopefully, this would help the both of them.
Killer froze as he approached Blue's door. What if there was something he hadn't checked? What if Blue had found something he hadn't? What if-
He shook his head. He had to stop being  so damn dramatic. The others were already wondering what was up with him. This wasn't going to help.
He opened the door to Blue's room as quietly as he could, slipping in and closing the door behind him. Blue was asleep, on the bed, unharmed. See, he didn't need to worry, Blue was fine. He'd made sure of it now. He slipped into a chair on the other side of the room, waiting for Blue to wake up.
Eventually, he heard shuffling from the bed, then thudding on the floor as Blue made a mad dash for the bathroom. Shit.
"Hey, you need a glass of water or something?" Killer peeked into the bathroom. Seeing Blue nod, he teleported to the kitchen.
"Thank you..." Blue rasped as he gargled some of the water, spitting it down the drain. "Ugh...I keep waiting for the day I end up coughing up blood...I hate ripping up my throat like this but it's not like this is my choice anymore." He rubbed his throat.
"I'm sorry, man...wish I knew how to help..."
"I wish I knew any advice to give you to help..." Blue chuckled. "I've looked some things up, but...oh well. It will pass eventually."
"Here's hoping. For your sake." Killer leaned back against the doorframe. "It it better than yesterday, at least?"
"A little." Blue sighed. "Hey...have you been crying?"
Killer bristled. "No." He had, only just before going to see Nightmare, but he didn't need Blue knowing, especially knowing it was because of him.
"Horror must be chopping onions then. Your eyes are puffy and everything."
"Uh...yeah. Must be." Killer hesitated. "Wanna come sit down?"
"Sure." Blue giggled and crossed the room to the bed and Killer followed after. Blue was quick to lay down, patting the bed next to him. Killer quickly kicked off his slippers and flopped down next to him.
The two laid there for a while, and gradually Blue moved so his head rested on Killer's stomach. It was strangely comfortable, being this close to someone, even Killer.
"Comfy?"
"Yeah." Blue laughed. "You don't mind, do you?"
"Nah. Horror uses everyone as pillows from time to time, I get used to it." Killer chuckled. "Besides, you look so cute like this..."
Blue looked away, cheeks warming up a little. "Oh please..."
"What?" Killer grinned. "I'm not lying. Then again, you're always pretty cute."
"Even when I'm spilling my guts?"
"Yeah, even then."
Blue laughed, almost a bark. "Liar."
"I take personal offense to that." Killer put a hand over his SOUL in mock offense. "How could you not be the cutest thing on Earth with those sparkly eyes and your chubby little cheeks!" Here Killer reached over, pinching Blue's cheek.
"Ouch! Hey, that hurt!"
"Sorry." Killer backed off. The two went quiet again.
Presently, Killer wrapped his arm around Blue, dragging him up closer so Blue's head now rested just below Killer's shoulder.
"Feeling cuddly?"
"If there's one thing you have to know about this group, it's that we're all touch starved. So yes, I am, and you're going to deal with it."
Blue laughed and leaned back into the comfort. "Don't worry, me too."
"Why? How?"
"What do you mean?"
"You're...you were a Star! You must have been showered in love."
Blue laughed again, but it sounded too much like a sigh. "No."
"That's it? Just...no?"
"Well, I'm a regular, good person among gods. I never expected anyone to pay attention to me anyways." Blue shrugged as well as he could. "It's alright."
"Blue...stars, um, this it going to sound awkward, but...you deserve love. Platonic, romantic, whatever. It's a right, at least...it should be."
"Aww, you're sweet." Blue looked up at Killer and smiled. Killer smiled back, tracing a hand across Blue's skull lightly.
"Thank you."
"Of course." Blue snuggled in closer with a small sigh. "I'm sleepy...you don't mind if I fall asleep on you, right?"
"I was hoping you would."
"Mmm." Blue closed his eyes, and soon he was asleep. Killer continued to lightly stroke his skull until he too fell asleep.
********
When Killer woke up, Blue was gone. Instantly, Killer panicked. Where was he? Killer bolted upright, listening for something, anything within the castle that could tell him where Blue was.
There was noise downstairs. Good. That meant he hadn't left the castle.
Killer bolted up, not bothering to put his slippers on as he made a dash for downstairs. Even if Blue was downstairs, something could still go wrong.
What if he passed out and hurt himself in the fall? What if he broke something and stepped on it or slipped or...
Killer paused at the bottom of the stairs, looking around with blurry vision. He wiped at his eyes, trying to appear his normal calm self.
Blue was curled up on the couch, munching on a bowl of cereal one grain at a time, flipping through shows. Killer meandered over. "Bored?"
"Yep." Blue looked over. "Sorry if I didn't wake you up. You...you looked really calm asleep, so I figured I'd let you be."
"That's sweet of you." Killer flopped down next to Blue, and the other immediately leaned on his shoulder. Killer grinned and wrapped an arm around Blue's shoulders, snatching a handful of dry cereal.
"Hey!"
"I live here too babe. I get some of this too."
"Get your own then."
"Nah." Killer leaned back against the couch. "So, what will we be watching?"
"Cartoons, when I can find them."
"Oh? What kind of cartoons?"
"I can't remember the name. The older ones, with the cross-dressing rabbit or whatever."
Killer laughed. "Bugs bunny?"
"Yes! Thank you!" Blue rolled his eyes. "Honestly, how could I forget that stupid name?"
"Don't beat yourself up." Killer squeezed Blue's shoulder, in what he hoped was reassurance. "You're alright. Everyone forgets stupid shit sometimes."
Blue sighed, giggling to himself as he finally found what he had been looking for. The two settled down to watch.
