Hunter woke up for the first time in the bedroom of the house he was given. He wasn't startled away by some noise coming from outside, he didn't have to sleep with one eye open. He fell asleep peacefully and he woke up normally. And laying right beside him was Rosita. A small smile forms on his face, it all felt too good to be true.
He quietly rolled out of bed, he didn't want to wake her up. She looked peaceful while she slept. She looked beautiful. He walked into the bathroom and shut the door behind him. He did his routine the same way as before. Shower, brush teeth, and get dressed. Once he did that he stared at himself in the mirror in the corner of the room.
"First day on the job, back to being a boring old police officer," Rosita says as she watches him from the bed, "Should I bring you donuts?"
Hunter chuckles, "You are so funny. But you're gonna be thanking me. I'm gonna be keeping this town real safe. No bad guys are getting past the Grimes brothers."
Rosita hums with a nod of her head, "Right, and this is coming from the same guy who tripped trying to take out a walker. I feel really safe with you out there."
"Oh wow, Ms. Rosita has jokes in the morning," He sighs as he turns away from the mirror, "I would just like to remind you, I was in the military for years. Great soldier. And you're also in my bed. You are obligated to be nice to me."
"Oh is that right?" Hunter nods his head and Rosita makes a move to get out of bed but Hunter jumps on top of her.
"You can be as mean to me as you want, as long as I keep waking up with you next to me."
"I'll think about it," Rosita bites back a smile, her hands come out from under the blanket and they find themselves in his hair. Hunter smiles up at her, he hasn't been this happy in a long time.
"You keep looking at me like that and I'm gonna think you're falling for me," Hunter says.
She rolls her eyes but couldn't stop the smile that spread across her face. Hunter leans in but she pushes his face away, "You have to go protect this town."
Hunter frowns, he quickly leans in and places a kiss on her lips before jumping out of bed, "Tell me how good I look."
Rosita grabs a pillow and throws it at him. Hunter catches it before it could hit him, "Fiesty, I like it."
_____
Hunter walked to the meeting spot just outside the walls where there was a house in the middle of the woods. He was meeting Carol, Daryl, and his brother. He spots Carol and smiles at her, "My oh my, don't you look all nice."
Carol smiles but shakes her head, "Don't you start."
Hunter raises his hand but it doesn't stop him from smiling, "I don't see it, but it's close. There's just one of 'em," Daryl tells them.
"We won't be here long," Rick says, resting his hand on his hip, "So what do you think?"
"We can go in when it's empty," Carol suggests.
Hunter furrows his brows, "How? It's locked up at night," They were trying to figure out a way to break into the armoury and take their guns back.
"The window. There's a latch. I can leave it open," Carol says.
"A latch?" Rick asks.
"Yeah."
"What if one of those pricks shut it?" Daryl asks.
"Wait a couple of days, leave it open again," Carol answers.
"It's getting closer," Daryl told them as he watches the woods for any walkers.
