𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐄𝐆𝐀𝐄𝐑𝐀 was like watching a dragon circle its pray. She had the gaze of a bloodlust filled starved animal and a smile only missing sharp teeth.

And that glint in her eyes. Amethyst eyes that haunted him. She'd killed Vaemond's four sons and then strutted in the Throne Room with the murder weapon on her back to piss the Velaryon worm off.

Smart girl.

Aemond had found her in the library. It seemed some things never change and Megaera's love for books was one of them.

"You seem to have grown a taste for blood, cousin." He jested and watched as her wary eyes rose from the leather bound book to meet his stare.

The ghost of a smile played upon her lips. Like what you see? She had asked during all the chaos.

"Just yours, I'm afraid." The wicked look she carried made his blood run hotter in his veins. What was with this girl and having such an affect on him?

Aemond chuckled under his breath at the irony of feeling alive within these soul draining walls by the very girl that once almost killed him. "I know what you did. Showing up with that bow was a risky move." He hummed as he moved forward and sat down across from her.

He leaned back and watched as she scoffed slightly pointedly flipping a page of the book she was holding. "I was under the impression you would be happy to see my head detached from my body." She mused and looked back up at Aemond again. "Uncle asked that we attend family dinner " She added.

Aemond laughed, but there was no humour in it. "He's still hoping for peace. What a fool." He mumbled the last part and watched as Megaera rolled her eyes.

She closed her book and leaned forward, close enough that Aemond could see the thin scars he'd given her almost a decade ago.

"He loves us. He may be horrie at showing it, he may still be grieving his first wife and love of his life but uncle loves us." All signs of amusement had left her face as she told Aemond what she thought to be true.

But Aemond knew. His father did not love them. He only loved a dead woman and Rhaenyra━━and by extension her children. All others were just heirs and extra people that happened to share his blood.
