He was a twin. Some people wanted to have a twin. He didn't understand how. Everything he did, it just seemed like he was a shadow of his own brother. Techno was nothing special, he wasn't the favorite twin. His brother, Wilbur, was a musician who had a way with words that no adult could even manage. His outbursts were ignored by everyone around him, nobody wanted to admit that Wilbur wasn't perfect in every single way. He had impulse issues, too, but, again, nobody would admit that. Techno, decidedly, wasn't the perfect child. He was not a musician, he was a fighter. He loved to play-fight with Wilbur, he loved swords, bows, all of that stuff. Apparently, that wasn't how princes were supposed to act. Fighting was essential, yes, but it wasn't 'normal' to have it as a hobby. He wanted to fight outside of studying under his father, he wanted to actually fight with a real opponent on the other side. But he couldn't. Because he was a twin. When he would bring this up, the only dream he's ever had in his life, Wilbur would yell and cry and scream, so Techno couldn't go. Because Wilbur didn't want him to. It's not like Techno was doing much good here, in the castle, either. He followed his brother around like a little kid. When Wilbur was taken away to actually learn about becoming a king, Techno would read. What else was he supposed to do? He read Greek Mythology, mostly. Techno thought of how his parents were so worried that their twin sons would fight over the throne, maybe fight to the death. Now, Techno wished they were right. Techno didn't even put up a fight, Wilbur wanted to be next in line so he let him, he didn't argue. When people used to talk about the twins, it was about a loud but calm, musically talented, smart boy, and his weird twin brother who read Greek Mythology and wanted to fight on the battlefield. Now, when people talked about the twins, it was about the new crown prince who, despite what his father thought, was trying his best, and, wait, does he have a brother, too? That was who Techno was. He would not go down in history, his brother would. They wouldn't even know he had a twin brother. Techno decided the only way he would be remembered was to fight for it. He wanted to be the best warrior his family had ever seen. He wanted, when people talked about the twins, to talk about a crown prince with musical talent and grace, and his twin brother, Techno, the greatest hero the royal Watson family had ever seen. The way he thought about it made it seem like he didn't love his brother. He loved Wilbur with all of his heart, he would die without him. Wilbur is, as cheesy as it is, his other half. He would sacrifice himself for him any day, without hesitation. Wilbur had been there for Techno on his worst days, the days when getting up felt like a task he'd never again be able to complete. The days when he'd forget to eat for so long that it hurt to breathe. He knew he'd been there for Wilbur. Wilbur's worst days when the only way it seemed to calm him was by reading some book he didn't even care about, he just liked when Techno read to him. When Wilbur nearly hit Techno with a plate, Techno hugged him. He didn't call him a nuisance, or a psychopath, or a brat, he hugged him. They'd shared the same room since they'd been born, they'd done everything together. He prayed that he died before Wilbur. He wouldn't be able to bury him, he wouldn't be able to survive it.
