Love is never lost, it's hiding deep inside
I woke up with a pounding headache. Pushing my head deeper into my pillow, or what I thought was my pillow until it moved. Why does my pillow move? I tried wrapping my arms around it holding it in place but it moved again. "Max stop moving." My eyes slowly opened taking in my surroundings. I noticed I wasn't in my room or lying in bed. Looking around I noticed I was sleeping on a very uncomfortable couch, practically on top of Daniel. Wait, shit! I shot up looking down at Daniel. "Cant, we just sleep a little longer?" He mumbled his eyes still half closed. "Why aren't I in my room?" I asked confused about our current situation. "Because you're in mine," Daniel responded dryly. I sighed and shook my head.
"For real this time," I said sounding a bit groggy. "You had a panic attack and fell asleep on the couch," Daniel answered. Small bits of last night came back, my dad's words and the feeling I couldn't breathe. "How did you get me out?" I asked a bit quieter. "I called your sister," Daniel answered. I nodded and looked down at my hands. "What's wrong?" Daniel asked sitting up. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bother you," I whispered. Daniel took a hold of my hands making me look up to meet his face. "It's okay, I'm glad you came to me." He whispered. I felt my cheeks heating up and ducked my head. Daniel gently grabbed my chin making me look at him again. "Don't hide from me, it's cute." He said softly. I felt my cheeks getting redder.
Suddenly Daniel's hands left mine and he stood up. Awkwardly rubbing his face. "Look, we need to get going. Our plane leaves in three hours." He mumbles. I nod and make my way to the door. "Where are you going?" He asks. "Getting my stuff," I responded. "Right, sorry." I turned my back and walked out of the room.
With an empty feeling, I entered my room. Quickly throwing my stuff together before stepping into the bathroom. I needed a shower, my face was still covered in dried-up tears. While getting undressed I tried not to look at my reflection in the mirror. I knew if I glanced back a set of eyes would hold my glance. Making me look at myself, telling me how I looked. Pointing out all my flaws, the fact I was too heavy, had no muscles, and don't have a tan were just a few of those things. Trying to set my mind on other things the only thing I could think of was Daniel.
I barely remember anything from last night, most of it is what Daniel told me. Waking up pushed together on the small couch wasn't as bad as you think it would be. It was pretty comfy thinking back on it. Daniel's body warmth made it so that I didn't miss a blanket. And his chest turned out to be an amazing pillow. The fact we've slept together two nights in a row wasn't that surprising. I've lost count of the sleepovers we had.
I stepped out of the shower grabbed a towel and wrapped myself in the soft material. Quickly checking my phone I saw I had some messages.
Vic: Heyy Maxie, hope you're doing better. Tell Daniel I'm happy he was there with you.
Max: I'm alright! Thank you for helping Daniel, I'm sure he must have been freaked out...
---
Daniel: Be ready, I'm picking you up in ten minutes.
Daniel's message was sent exactly seven minutes ago. Which meant I had about three minutes left to get dressed and do my hair. I didn't bother sending a reply and focussed on getting dressed instead. I ran back to the bathroom quickly fixing my hair and packing my toiletries. Just when I entered my room again there was a soft knock on the door. I grabbed my suitcase and opened the door. "Heyy Maxie!" Daniel said happily. I hummed something in response while putting on my shoes and jacket.
"I assume you just finished getting ready." Daniel chuckled. "Hmm." I hummed. "Max, calm down, we've still got two hours. Those two minutes won't bother too much." Daniel said. Finally looking up to meet his eyes I smiled at the warm feeling of comfort. "You're ready to go?" Daniel asked. "Yeah, I think I've got everything packed." Daniel nodded and reached his hand out to grab the handle of my suitcase. "What are you doing?" I asked reaching my hand out as well grabbing a hold of Daniel's hand still holding my suitcase. I felt a small spark when our fingers brushed together. "Can't you see, I'm taking your suitcase?" Daniel said as if it was nothing. "But.." I started but Daniel stopped me. "No, but's, I'm taking your suitcase and that's it." With that being said he started walking towards the elevator.
I was left on the doorstep, speechlessly trying to process what just happened. I've seen Daniel being a gentleman with so many women but never with me. "Max?" Daniel asked, already standing in front of the elevator. "Coming!" I quickly closed the door behind me and took a sprint to where Daniel was waiting. "So, ready for Japan?" He asked while we stepped inside the elevator. I shrugged my shoulders. "I think so, not looking forward to the media duties though," I admitted. Daniel gave me a questioning look. "You know, there will be lots of questions about you leaving the team," I explained. Daniel had a knowing look on his face. "We'll be fine, don't worry." He said.
'We'll be fine' What if things start going downhill, what if we won't be alright?
