As she slowly opens her eyes Y/n grabs her phone to check on anything that might have happened during the night.
Nothing, not a single text. Not even from her mother.

With a groan she sits up, ties her hair back carelessly and grabs the remote that sat right next to her phone. She continues to turn on the TV and her PlayStation.
The feeling of turning on the console is the only thing that sparks joy inside of her heart, everything else feels numb. Suddenly the door to her dorm swings wide open with force and bangs against the wall.

"Y/n!" The said girl turns to the door. "We have a lecture in 15 minutes."

"So?" The girl in the door groans in annoyance as she stomps over to her best friend. "Come on! You haven't been out of this room in two weeks. What could possibly be so much more important than your future?"

Y/n shrugs. "I'm not even sure I want a future at this point." The girl stomps over and drags Y/n out of the bed. "We're going!" Y/n rolls her eyes at her best friend. "Fine."

Reluctantly Y/n gets ready for her lecture, leaving her beloved PlayStation and favorite game behind, "Devil May Cry 5". Brushing her teeth and her hair and putting on actual clothes, not only a shirt and sweat pants that she sleeps in. Actual jeans and a hoodie against the cold weather.

"You missed literally everything, it's insane", F/n laughs as she watches Y/n put on her shoes. Not one second out of sight or Y/n might escape her plan.

After getting ready Y/n and F/n walk to the lecture hall across the campus. To their surprise they find no one there. "What the hell", F/n says and takes out her phone. "He's sick?! Really?"

A smirk spreads onto Y/n's face. "Stop that." F/n nudges her side. "Fine, you're off the hook for this lecture but we still have the one in the afternoon. And I want you to ask someone to the Snow Dance!" Y/n raises an eyebrow. "What's a Snow Dance?"
It's as if a knife stabbed through F/n's heart, her face turns as pale as paper.
"Only the best tradition this college has to offer! It's like prom but actually fun."

Y/n raises an eyebrow. "Not interested."

"Y/n!" She rolls her eyes. "Fine, I'll try and find someone. See you later."

"We can go out to eat after the lecture. I promise",
F/n calls out after her.

To her luck Y/n is off the hook and returns to her dorm room, walking across the snowy campus once again. As she enters her dark and slightly stinky dorm room again she lets out a sigh.

Finally, alone at last with her PlayStation. Her one and only love.
She starts the console to finish her favorite game. The "Hell or Hell" mode is a challenge but she can handle it. Only the last mission is left. The boss fight against Vergil.

She beat him many times before and will surely try to do it again.

Constantly playing this game for the last few weeks made her get used to the mechanics and play style. She memorized everything.
Beating Vergil once again is almost child's play. His character arc is complicated, an arc with great depth, almost fascinating how one can't see completely beneath the surface.
Y/n lays down the controller after finishing the final battle. She did it, she finished the game again.

Suddenly a headache starts to hit her. Must be a migraine from looking at screens for so long. No, this one is different. The pain is not only at that one spot but all over. The pain makes her sick and dizzy, her sight becomes blurry.

"Oh god",She holds her head as the pain continues to throb. She stumbles out of her bed to get a glas of water but is suddenly shocked by something unusual.
Her headache must be playing tricks. Y/n could swear that there's a portal coming out of her TV. "What the fuck." Unfortunately there's not much time to realize what's going on. An invisible force starts to tuck at her ankle, leaving Y/n no time to escape.

It tucks at her ankle so hard that she falls to the ground and is dragged to the portal in her TV. Y/n screams for help and tries to hold onto the leg of her bed but fails. She tries to ram her nails into the ground but with no luck.
Helpless she is sucked into the dark void of the portal that spawned in her dorm. No one heard her cries for help, no one is coming.
Not even the silence of the void can comfort her now. Even her own breathing is laced with panic as she continues to float in the void weightlessly. No up or down, no way out. She can't even see her own hands, it's so dark and cold.

And lonely.

Suddenly Y/n is blinded by a bright light coming towards her. The warmth on her skin is welcoming and calming. The light grows bigger and soon Y/n feels herself leaving the dark and cold void, a place she does not want to visit again.

Y/n expected a harsher landing but thee invisible force that pulled her in gently sets her onto her feet. A comforting feeling that is immedietly destroyed as Y/n notices her new surroundings.

The walls and floor look like roots, the texture looks almost meat like. A red liquid equal to the looks of blood runs down the walls in droplets that gather to ponds at the bottom.

What is going on?
