POV Sara
"So where are you from?", Bite asked. "None of your business. Not asking you either", I answered quite annoyed. "But you're not interested in the first place so that's not the same", was his smug answer. "Damn right I'm not!", I mumbled. "What I'm interested in however is why on earth you in such a good mood? Is bloody freezing and you're behaving like a child on Christmas. I mean yeah sure we're close to Christmas but it's still two weeks" "Well I'm just trying to make the best out of this situation", he answered even happier this time. Yeah sure. Good luck with that mate. So he apparently was quite the optimistic person. I hated that with every fibre of my body. Optimistic people were just too optimistic for me. At least try and be neutral with your opinion of the world. I get that not everyone can be a pessimist but optimist? That's really uncalled for. No need to rub your happiness into everyone's face. Don't make your good mood everyone's problem.
We were doing some observations on a low-level criminal who just had to do his stupid shit in the middle of winter because why not... Bite was fine in his winter coat but stupid me only had an old leatherjacket with a hoodie underneath as protection from the cold. It was okay but far away from warm. He looked like the cliché version of an agent with a black suit, white dress shirt and of course the black tie. I preferred the more laid back all black combo of hoodie, jeans, boots and, surprise surprise, leather jacket. Washington DC was really cruel in winter. Luckily soon I would be out of DC back in NYC. It wasn't much warmer there but at least is I was back with my family and I had some proper clothing there. In the DC flat I only hat autumn stuff which right now was really unfortunate. Everything else was back at home.
Maybe you've been asking yourself already why I'm working in the US if I'm actually working for the CIA and they usually work outside the country while inside things fall to the FBI. Well I honestly have no real answer other than I'm liked and given to whoever needs my talents most. But so far I haven't been sent abroad but that didn't bother me much to be fair.
"I'm getting really hungry. You know I think you should really go and get me something to eat.", Bite said after a while. "Pardon?! I sure as hell won't go and get you something to eat. Go yourself if you think you're starving. And while you're already out might as well freeze to death and stop getting on my nerves", I spat at him. I hated him with a passion. There was absolutely nothing I liked about him. Even his breathing got my blood boiling. He looked surprised but said smirking: "Ah, I think I won't just do you that favour. But it's nice to see you do have some humour in you!" "I wasn't joking. That was me being absolutely dead serious. Go on and freeze. I would be a great service to me, you and mankind." That swiped his stupid smile right of his face. He didn't even answer it but it still took everything in me to not punch him in the face. Thankfully our wanna-be gangster entered the scene at that moment, freeing me from my boredom and aggressions. I exited the old Ford Escort and crossed the street walking towards the little shop the target entered. The mood inside the shop was weird and I didn't even want to know what exactly was sold here but it literally jumped you in the face. It was a joke shop were they sold things for comedians and magicians and that kind of people. How anything in there was supposed to be funny was beyond me but I didn't care. My job here wasn't preparing for a comedy act but catching a criminal. The store was bigger than it looked like from the outside and I was having troubles keeping my eyes focused on the idiot. Lucky me didn't have to wait long until the mini-gangster crossed two aisles in front of me. He didn't see me at first but when he spotted me he started running like his life depended on it. Guess that wasn't too far off from the truth. He wasn't very fast so I caught up to him fairly quick. But his advantage was that he knew the store quite well. I didn't. He cut one corner and pushed over one of the shelves when I tried to follow him. That shelf was blocking my path so I had to make a choice. Go around it or crawl over it. Crawling it was. It didn't take me long to leave the obstacle behind and follow him again. I was back on his heels in no time and fortunately he made the mistake of running into a dead end. Got him! In all this mayhem I didn't even realise that I was all on my own. Bite was nowhere to be seen. But who needs him anyway? It sure isn't me! "Hi Jimmy, I'm sure you know why I'm standing here and you over there, don't you?" He shook his head with a confused look on his face. Then a few moments later he nodded. "Great, then you also know what's coming next. Unfortunately for you I have to arrest you now and you won't cause me any more trouble. Got that?" He nodded again. He really didn't resist the arrest and after a few minutes we made our way back to the car. Bite was still sitting inside the vehicle. "You know arsehole, you could've helped!", I said angrily when I put Jimmy on the backseat. "I was sure you had everything under control. Plus, somebody had to watch the car. Wouldn't want it to get stolen.", was all he answered. "Who would want to steal this piece of shit?!" "Don't be so mean, bitch", he bit back.
POV Aiko
I really hoped that they would give me a new partner too but guess what didn't happen. Desk duty was what they gave me. Lucky me, I know. That kind of work was just boring and I hated absolutely everything about it. All I got to do was read other agents reports and sign them off to the archive. The most interesting part about this was watching the news every once in a while. I never really paid much attention to the news before but Sara once showed me how to use them to your advantage and how important it was to be up to date on the world. I'm not sure how much beyond the news she watched but she did know a lot of trivia about quite a lot of shows and films. I really did miss her a lot and every day it seemed to get a bit worse especially when I had one of her reports on my desk. It did stir up some emotions ever time. The amount of times she was involved in some action film like situations was actually alarming but every time she seemed like she had everything under control while her new partner was like a dead arm just hanging around and not contributing to anything. How he got his job was beyond me but he had to have some valuable qualities, right? Otherwise he wouldn't have gotten that position? I honestly don't know.
