CHAPTER 27
Saturday night rolled around and I had major jitters. It was now 6pm. I was suppose to meet my mom at this nice restaurant that I requested. Despite my agreeing to see my mother I didn't know if things would ever be normal. I was not looking for normal at this point but I was curious to know what she would say. I ended up having to reschedule to meet up at dinner time instead of lunch.
" You want me to drive you ? ", Tre asked.
" Nah ", I fondled with my hair in the mirror.
" Alright baby. Be safe ", trevante kissed my cheek before heading back to the bedroom.
I got dressed and headed out the door. Strangely it cooler than normal this December, which was pretty strange.
Walking to my car I got a strange feeling in my stomach. I brushed it off and kept walking. I had my glock on me anyways so I was good. I just wanted to prove to tre that I could go to places by myself. He was always so over protective of me. Rightfully so.
" Hey Tammy I'll be there in ten minutes okay ? ", I spoke into the phone.
" Okay, See ya then ", Tammy responded and then hung up.
On my way to the restaurant I was getting lost to some music on the way there. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw a tangerine orange car following behind me.
The car was still following me after five minutes and I figured we were just going to similar places. I pushed the memory of the car's model and color into the back of my mind for later.
Once arriving to the restaurant I walked in. A lady stood up in the corner of the restaurant and waved. It was Tammy. I walked up to her and gave her a hug.
" wow....you look amazing ! ", I exclaimed. She looked almost unrecognizable.
" Maybe it's the new hair ", Tammy patted her hair in a humorous manner.
" Oh please ! Ya' look GOOD ", I smiled genuinely.
" Thankyou ", tammy ducked down and laughed.
" How are you ", Tammy put her fist under her chin, resting her elbow on the table.
" I've been okay. I don't think I have to ask you the same question though. I'm so happy for you ", I brushed a strand of hair behind my ear looking down at the menu.
" It wasn't easy that's for sure. But I really wanna know about you though. You look great too ", Tammy sipped her water.
" Uh...I've been good. I graduated highschool back in 2013. After that I opened up my own salon. I manage it. I don't actually do hair there unless it's a really special occasion. We do everything. Weaves, quick weaves, braids, 360 lace frontals, sew in, press, curls, perms, washes, natural hair. You name it ", I smiled.
" That is phenomenal. I knew you'd make something of yourself. Ever since you were a little girl you were always finding a way to flip a dollar ", my mom laughed.
I laughed with her and nodded.
" I can't say your wrong about that ", I smiled.
" So what have you been up to ", I looked back at her.
" I'm a stay at home mom actually. I got married. And had a baby....", she responded sheepishly.
" A BABY. Wow. That's incredible. I- I wow ", I was speechless.
" Yeah, she's 11 months. Her name is Lily. She's gorgeous ", Tammy took a picture of a little girl out of her wallet.
" She looks just li-", I was cut off.
