CHAPTER 52
I didn't believe her either. No way a soup could induce me but boy was I wrong. I was terribly wrong.
15 minutes later my contractions hit me like a truck. They started off tiny but got stronger and stronger. I laid down in bed leaning against my pregnancy pillow, rocking back and forth.
" Jesus ", I grabbed my stomach trying to stay focused. These weren't Braxton Hicks anymore.
" You want me to run you a bath ", tre stood in front of me holding a towel.
" Please ", I nodded while rocking back and forth.
Linda sat beside me reading her book. I waited for the tub to fill up before I got in and sat in the hot water assuming it would help. It helped slightly and relaxed some of my muscles to make the pain more manageable but I knew that tonight these contractions wouldn't be letting up. They went from 20 minutes apart to 10 minutes apart to 3 minutes apart.
I held trevante's hand trying to ride out most of the contractions in fear of being turned around at the hospital for coming in too soon. Trevante sat on the outside of the tub holding my hand.
" Take me to the Hospital ", I started to stand up in the tub. Trevante handed me my robe and helped me out. He drained the water and helped me put on my clothes. When I was in pain I wasn't much of a screamer. I suffered in silence. I figured that if I started screaming I'd never stop. I was trying hard to keep myself under control mentally because even though this would be excruciating physically, I have to be mentally prepared for what was about to take place.
Linda grabbed the diaper bag and we all made our way out to the hospital. The drive there helped me clear my head a little more. Trevante got me a wheelchair and pushed me into the hospital with Linda. They took us and got me set up in a room.
As I was laying down in pain and discomfort the nurse approached me.
" Okay so we won't be able to do a natural birth tonight because one of your babies is facing in the wrong direction. Baby B. So you'd only be able to push out one. So we're gonna have to prep you for epidural honey ", she smiled down at me.
" Okay that's fine. Whatever has to be done ", I was so out of it that I agreed to anything. I was shaking from the pain that I was in. All I could do was close my eyes and hold Tre's hand.
" Give us five minutes and we'll take that pain away for you ", she patted my hand and left.
Those five minutes felt like forever but I was already at a 10 with my pain so i knew it could only get better from here.
" I'm scared for when they cut me open tre. I don't wanna be awake ", I squeezed his hand whispering my fears to him.
" I'll be right there with you. There's no reason to be afraid ", he brought my hand up to his mouth and kissed it.
" I know but when they cut you open it's numb but you can still feel it. You can feel the tugging and pulling. T-They use a metal clamp to pull back the muscle surrounding the uterus to see the babies and get them out. They push back your skin and muscle clear up to your rib. They say it feels like a ton of pressurebutthatshitisuncomfortable Joytoldmeandshe- ", I started talking really fast but trevante shushed me.
" I understand but y/n this is what's best for the children. There's no need to be scared. This is a private hospital. These doctors know exactly what there doing baby ", he kissed my head but I was still crying silently. I nodded becoming silent again.
They escorted me to the room where they would do the epidural. They had me sit up and lean against trevante as they lifted off my medical robe from my back. The doctors rubbed my back with alcohol and I felt the needle slowly press against my back. They urged me not to move during this because the needle needed to be pressed in a certain angle between the spine. The wrong move could leave you paralyzed. I was already in so much pain from my contractions that I didn't even care about the long needle. Eventually they let me lay back down and the epidural had worked successfully. I was now pain free and I couldn't feel anything from my stomach down to my toes. I couldn't even move my legs that well.
