Meanwhile, what I didn’t realise in my moment of grief is that Will and I were surrounded by soldiers in hard metallic armour. For me, it was normal to see soldiers in my area, they protected us from intruders and I was therefore calm but slightly confused why they where focused on us however. This was only until I saw Will’s reaction as he looked up. He went pale instantly and his eyes seemed to widen with fright. I even heard his breathing become fast and heavy.
“what seems to be the problem here?” I asked stubbornly, although the soldiers blank, emotionless eyes were not laid on me but Will, like a swam of eagles, ready to attack a mouse with their claws spread wide and eyes eager for blood.
“Peasant! What do you think your doing?”one questioned whilst simply other on looking soldiers waited impatiently for an answer.
“I..umm..I just...Its not..” Will stuttered. By this point I was completely confused, what could William of done so wrong? As my hands was tightly hugging his wrist, I then noticed the rate of his heart beat in his pulse.
“Will, I'm so confused, why is your heart beating so fast?” However, he hardly glanced at me, something was very defiantly wrong.
“Madam, its all sorted now. If you would like to come with us,” another soldier said, holding out his hand for assistance.
“No sir, I have no idea what your business is here, but I think you may have the wrong people,” but before I knew it, four soldiers had a tight grasp of Williams arms, he was struggling, like a bear tangled in chains. “What are you doing? Get off him,” I repeated. I was panicking, confused. I got up rapidly and began shouting, screaming “What an earth are you doing?!” However by this time, I was also restrained. Will was hurried off into the distance on the back of a cart, tied up with rope. The figures faded into nothing. What was happening, one moment, Will and I are fine and the next he is arrested for no reason, everything had gone so fast.
“Its all sorted now miss, the peasant can no longer abuse you,” The soldier explained. “What are you talking about sir?”
“We understand your distressed miss, anyone would be if someone was taking advantage,” he replied.
It then hit me, how insignificant and guilty I felt at that moment in time was beyond words. Why didn’t I realise? What have I done? Seemed to be the only questions compacted in my head and boiling up like a kettle, I crushed the soldiers foot with my heel so that I was freed from his grip and I ran, to try and set the innocent William free. Again, like Elisa, I heard the group of soldiers calling for me when I ripped my arms from their hold and ran. As I raced through the meadow, away from soldiers, I followed the tracks of the cart.
