Part~Five

Eliza gestured me into her grand hallway as my tears began dry. Large polished banisters followed the stairs up to the following floors, the large tiles where glazed to perfection. Her house was so beautiful that it almost made me feel guilty for walking in limp and rough looking, the complete opposite of beautiful. Even so, Eliza gestured me into her living room and onto the satin, rouge sofa and handed me a tissue.

"I've lost them Eliza, Mother and Father have gone." I wept as is padded the tissue on my damp eye lids.

"Ssshhh, it's okay. It's going to take time to except what's happened Jane." she hushed as she patted my back.

"Why was he murdered, he never hurt anyone?" I cried.

Then suddenly my mind hit realisation, my blurred mental picture then became clear. The memory of travelling back in time hit me like a punch to the face. The opportunities I could have, the tasks I could achieve where beyond my own knowledge, and I could use it as an advantage.

"No, No, I'm going to stop it from happening again!" I exclaimed, my face wide with sudden ambition although Eliza's face was full of concern.

"Jane! What are you talking about?"

"I'm going to stop my father from being killed again!" I sharply replied, almost interrupting her.

"Jane! Calm down, it's not as if you can go back in time, you have to accept what's happened." she said, restraining my arms to my side in attempt to calm me down.

"No Eliza! You don't understand, I can travel in time, I found a watch and with it I..." but before I could continue with my explanation Eliza was constantly shaking me and shouted over my timid voice.

"JANE! Listen to me okay! There is no such thing as time travel, you are talking nonsense Jane! Madness, you understand?"

How could I even think anyone would believe me, I was on this mission on my own and it was only my decisions that could make the difference. Looking into Eliza's eyes, full of and anger and disbelief, I aggressively tugged myself away from her physical contact, gripping tight of my cotton, cream dress and ran out the comfort of her house. As I ran, tripping over rocks and catching my hair on trees I heard her faint voice in the distance calling me back. Even so I blanked her call and continued running.

The sky began to close it back certain and the moon, mother of stars became apparent as I ran back to the empty house of my fathers and eventually reaching the familiar place of my bedroom. With heavy and hollow painting I unravelled the hanky, taking hold of the watch. Not thinking straight, shutting my eyes tightly, I quickly rubbed the watch and whispered "Take me back to the time of my parents" into my clumped hands.
