"There she stood, a girl- uh no- a woman with beautiful, long, ocean blue, shiny hair. Her eyes were brown like the deepest butth- ugh that's disgusting! Uh-hem! Her eyes were a fierce brown, with feelings of determination and pure courage. She stood on the rooftop that obviously wasn't her house... hidden by the shadows, hovering over her unsuspecting targets below-" she tensed as two guards below her looked at one another, "did you hear something?" One asked. The other man shook his head. The girl exhaled slowly and quietly as she continued in a whisper, "little did they know, they were about to have company from the brave warrior-" she leapt down knocking one guard out with a strong kick to the back of his head, using the momentum, she leapt behind the second guard, before he had time to react she gave him a roundhouse kick to the neck. He crumpled to the ground landing beside the other guard. "Zayla of Gonaga!" She cheered jumping up and down like a child. Looking at her small success she regained her composure then looked to the far wall, "not out of this yet", she rushed to the shadows remaining hidden as she crept through the bushes until reaching the ten foot wall. She peered around cautiously as she looked for a way up, and found one. A tall peach tree overlooking Gonaga. Zayla made her way to the tree then climbed like a monkey to the first branch. From there she easily flipped from branch to branch until she was high enough, then hopped down onto the wall, "alright!" She yelled in celebration, "mission accomplished!-" She gasped as a rope wire suddenly slapped her skin wrapping around her midsection causing her to lose her balance and fall. A young man caught her in his arms looking down at her with a disappointed expression, "not quite", he said in a low voice. She pouted, "oohh maaaan"
Zayla knelt down in front her father lowering her head, "I found her on the north wall sir", the man who had prevented her from escaping explained. "Thank you Bodoku", her father replied. "Yeah thanks a lot-" "Silence Zayla!" Her fathers yell made them both flinch, "You may leave, I need a moment with my daughter". Bodoku bowed his head giving Zayla a slight sympathetic look before leaving their house. He met the two guards who were previously knocked out, outside, "letting a small girl get the upper hand on you, great job gentlemen", he said before walking towards his home. One of the guards sighed while the other moaned, "what a smug douchebag, thinking his all smart because his family is rich". The first guard glanced at him, "don't be so disrespectful..." he stated making him roll his eyes.
Zayla remained quiet as her father eyed her, she could see a vein pulsing in his head, "What were you thinking Zayla? That you'd run away and have an adventure? What was going through your head child!?" "I'm not a child anymore father-!" She accidentally yelled. She lowered her voice, "I'm fourteen, most people my age leave Gonaga and go on to lead their own lives..." Her father sighed and sat down in a large wooden chair gesturing for her to sit in the chair beside him, "so that's it, you want to leave us all behind you?" She joined him, "well no. I just want to go out there and explore, I've lived in Gonaga my whole life... I don't understand why I can't just go for a few weeks... I'll even have Bodoku watch over me, ya know like he does all the time? Seriously his like a hawk!" Her dad chuckled slightly before letting loose a long sigh, "we haven't lived here our whole lives Zayla..." She frowned, "what?" "I think It's about time I tell you... what happened when you were younger". "Something happened to me?" "Just try to sit still for a few minutes and I'll tell you", he said calmly. She leaned in closer as her dad began recalling the past, "You were born in Zanaria City where I first met your mother. On your fourth birthday I'd decided to take you and Bodoku to the fair-" "Wait, you aren't about to tell me that Bodoku is actually my brother!?" "No of course not! Don't be so impatient, listen". "Uh sorry..." Her father slightly shook his head before continuing, "so I took you both to the fair, I let you go on rides, bought you some candy I'm sure your mother would've scolded me for-" He noticed Zayla's smile, he cleared his throat and continued, "uh-hem, anyway I took my eyes off of you for a second, just a second and you'd disappeared... I was frantic searching everywhere when I suddenly heard Bodoku shout out. I looked to him and he pointed rushing after you. I looked ahead and saw that you'd been grabbed by some peculiar people". "Peculiar people?" "Yes... I won't go into too much detail but the man who grabbed you had bright white hair and red eyes, not your average looking person that's for sure", Zayla nodded in agreement, "I chased after you as fast as I could, Bodoku reached you first, even though he was only eight years old he'd been training to fight with his father since he could stand, so he took the man holding you off of his feet faster than my eyes could follow". "Whoa... so Bodoku was looking out for me even then?" "Indeed, I swooped down and scooped you up into my arms, but when I looked up they'd escaped, three men all with the same skin, hair, and eyes. Everything matched and all I could remember was thinking that they hadn't picked you by accident". "So... they were just trying to kidnap me for some ransom or something?" Her father avoided her gaze, "I thought so at first but no... a year later, the same people broke into our house and attempted to take you again... I got to you before they could and demanded an explanation. Without giving one the red eyed man simply said one bone-chilling sentence... we will have her, it's only a matter of time, and time is all we have..." Zayla looked on with concern. "But I uprooted us and brought us to Gonaga a place so far from Zanaria that they wouldn't find us... so you see, that's why I'm so protective of you. If those people manage to get their hands on you I don't know what they'd do..." Zayla remained silent, she stood pacing a little. Her father watched with growing anxiety, "won't you say something?" Zayla looked at him, "so who were these people and why do they want me?" "I don't know". "Wouldn't it be better to hunt them down and find out?" "No! Weren't you listening!" Zayla lowered her head making her father sigh and stand, he put his hands on her shoulders, "I don't want to lose you too... you're all I have left..." Zayla looked up into his teary eyes, realizing that remembering he'd almost lost her when she was younger had clearly stressed him out. He brought her into his arms, "I'm sorry Zayla..." "It's alright father, I understand", they separated, "I won't leave until I'm older, and maybe I could get more training in with Bodoku, now that I know that as an eight year old he took down a fully grown man without effort, he better teach me everything he knows!" Her father chuckled, "well not tonight, you need your sleep, and so does he". She smiled, "I'll just go to bed then and don't worry father, I won't let anyone take me away from you", she pounded the air a few times with her fists then walked out shutting the door and heading to her room. Her father sighed and sat back down, "so much energy..." he looked to a picture frame on the wall of Zayla's mother who had died giving birth to her, "oh Zalia... our little girl is turning out to be a wonderful young, brave woman, just as you said she would... I miss you but I see a lot of you in our daughter... I just couldn't tell her..."
