"Stay inside sir we've got this!" Two men from Bodoku's unit was all that remained of the twelve, plus the two guards who had previously been guarding Zayla. Zayla's father tried to barge the door open, but they'd sealed him inside for his own safety. "Open this door! My daughter is out there!" "Bodoku is bringing her home sir I assure you!" "Let's just hope there's a home left to bring her back to..." a guard said, he looked around at the burning town, there was barely anyone around. Some people had been evacuated but those who hadn't now littered the towns floor or were in ashes amongst the burning houses, "I mean what are these people? They have powers of fire?" A man from the unit stood beside him watching as the white haired men closed in, he readied himself, "not just fire, stay focused". "How can we beat something like that?" "Don't give up hope, Bodoku could, in fact his probably on his way back with Zayla as we speak". The guard felt a boost of confidence and tightened the grip on his sword, "you're right". "That's the spirit soldier, now we sh-" He froze, his body trembling as a sword pierced him from side through side, blood dribbled from his mouth and he choked falling to the ground as the sword was taken out to slash the other man from the unit across the throat. The confident guards heart sank as he looked beside him to see the guard he had worked with for years was the culprit, "Aido-" As he spoke he tensed, the guard Aido stabbed him in the stomach, "why...?" "I'm sorry Tidus, there's no winning against these people... and I'm getting paid a lot more than I do here", he pulled the sword out making Tidus fall to his knees, "plus I really hate Bodoku, he'll get what's coming to him as well". Tidus mustered up the strength he could to speak, "you... traitor-" he coughed before collapsing. Aido sighed then gestured for the red-eyed men to approach the door, "his all yours", he laughed. Zayla's father had heard everything, he'd already rushed to his room and pulled an envelope from the draw and tucked it into his jacket. He went to rush to the door pausing next to his wife's picture, "I didn't think I'd be leaving her so soon Zalia..." He gave a shaky sigh, "give me strength..." He flinched as the door brook open. "Give us the specimen", one of the twins said as at least fifteen of them piled in. "My daughter is not your research project and she will never come back here!" he hoped as he looked around at the crowd of clones leading outside. "Then we shall kill you and find her, make no mistake she will be ours Kaizen". He was thrown off by the fact they knew his name, but then he gave a devilish smile, his demeanor seemed to change, his expression twisted, "so you think you know who I am and yet you still have it in your heads that you'll kill me?" He drew two swords from his belt letting it be known he also had two on his back, "I have trained everyday since you tried to take my daughter ten years ago, I never wanted to get back into my roots but you left me no choice. You think you'll kill me and take my daughter? Good luck!" He thrust forward easily slicing through at least eleven of the clones before they backed up to regroup. Aido was shocked, he'd never seen Kaizen so ferocious and agile, he fled the scene.
Zayla had never run so fast in her entire life, she could feel her heart racing, thudding, pounding faster urging her to slow down. She felt a sting in her chest and grabbed at the pain. As she did she lost her focus and tripped over her own feet, before she could fall Bodoku grabbed her arm and tugged her back to stand beside him, "are you alright?" He asked barely out of breath. She nodded trying to catch her breath, he noticed she was holding her 'wound'. "You should let me take a look, I'm worried about you". "No time..." She heaved, "listen up, you need to go on ahead". "No". "I'm slowing you down, you are clearly faster than me... though I hate to admit it-" "I should get that in writing". "Yeah, yeah, ha, ha very funny. This is serious Bodoku". "Yes it is. I am not leaving you out here alone with those red eyed freaks roaming around trying to take you. Didn't I promise I wouldn't let anything happen to you? You were already-" he caught himself, "hurt. I won't allow anything to happen to you Zayla". "You care that much about me?" "Of course I bloody do!" She smiled slightly knowing he only cursed when he was being serious, "then you know how I feel about my father..." Bodoku sighed, "fine, you win", he hoisted her under his arm and leapt elegantly up a tree sitting her at the top, "but you don't move from this spot unless your life is in danger". "Scouts honor". "You're not a scout, this isn't a joke Zayla, it's important to me that you stay safe". "I won't move unless my life is in danger I promise". "Good, and if you are in trouble-" He pointed at a side path, "head to the secret path that way back to town and only come in if you don't see any of those freaks, you got it?" "I got it". He nodded and went to jump down but she grabbed his arm tightly, "please be careful..." she said. He shook his head, "it's not me I'm worried about", he moaned before flipping down to the ground. Zayla watched as he rushed back towards Gonaga, "how does he move so fast...? Father, please be okay..." She jolted grabbing the branch she was sat on as the tree cracked. Her eyes widened as she looked down to see the broken necked twin, "oh come on!" She groaned then gave a slight screech as the tree began to tip, "is this seriously happening!?" The tree cracked and moaned as it slowly descended then picked up speed as it plummeted and crashed to the ground.
