Kimora POV

June 2021

Ping. I pick up my phone at the sound of a text coming through. Thinking it's Tiana and Kheumani sending me pics from their trip, I unlock it and go to my messages. I roll my eyes when I realize that Tyler has texted me a whole paragraph.

"Do you think I'm a fucking idiot, Kimora? Hanseo told me he saw you get into Derrick's car. I told you to stop talking to him." I skim over the message and read the last sentences. "You know what.. clearly your slow ass doesn't listen when I speak. My plane just landed so I'm coming to pick you up. We need to talk."

I grit my teeth. I hate when he talks to me like I'm a child, when I'm only two years younger than him. It's summertime and school just got out. I'm supposed to be outside enjoying my freedom before my senior year. But my boyfriend's younger brother was at the party I went to last night and sent him pictures of me. Me dancing, drinking with my friends, and catching a ride from a family friend. I can't help but feel irritated, only Tyler cares so much about what I'm doing. My own father understands that I'm grown and gives me the freedom to do what I want, as long as I'm being safe of course. I thought that Tyler going off to college would give me the freedom to do what I want, but I was dead wrong. His little brother is my age and goes to my high school. I thought he was cool but he's a snitch. I can't even piss without Tyler knowing about it.

It's 95 degrees outside so I put on a pair of ripped shorts and a crop top. I mentally prepare myself for the lecture I'm about to face, when I hear the doorbell ring.

I walk down the steps and unlock the door. Tyler is standing there and I can see Hanseo's figure in the car. "Hey babe. How was your flight?" I ask, hoping he's calmed down since he landed.

"Don't play in my face, Mora," he says as he scans my outfit. "What the hell are you wearing?"

I look down confused. "It's jean shorts and a top. I don't see the issue."

He grabs my arm and slams the front door closed. "You think this is what you should be wearing out when you have a boyfriend? This is the type of shit that gets me mad. Go upstairs and put on some actual clothes!"

"No."

"Excuse me?"

"I said no. You aren't my father. You can't tell me what to wear!"

He takes a menacing step forward. "Kimora don't talk to me like I'm one of your little friends. My mother wants to see you, so go upstairs and dress like a fucking human being!"

When did he get so scary? I think as I go upstairs and put on a pair of jeans.

He scans my outfit again as I walk down the steps. I can see him about to say something. "It's hot as hell outside, Tyler. My shorts are the only thing I'm changing."

"Whatever. Just get your little ass in the car."

I walk past him to get my bag and shoes, then lock the door when we exit. He's walking behind me as I make my way to his car. He mumbles something slick, but for my own sanity I ignore him. I open the door and sit in the passenger's seat. I pout and cross my arms when Tyler enters and starts the car.

"Damn Mora. You can't say hi now?" Hanseo speaks up.

I turn around to mug him. "I don't talk to rats."

He and Tyler chuckle. "You just mad you got caught doing something you know you shouldn't be doing," Hanseo says.

I ignore him and his bitch ass brother for the rest of the ride. In less than twenty minutes, we pull up to his house. Tyler opens my door and I get out. I only came because mama Kim said she wanted to see me. When we walk into the house, she greets us and pulls me in for a long hug.
