No one's pov
Hallie ran as fast as she could, carrying her backpack over her head in an attempt to shield herself from the pouring rain,as she desperately tried to get to her best friend Michael's apartment.she felt relieved when she saw his building, and it encouraged her to keep going.she could've taken the elevator, but for some reason she still had some adrenaline rush and went up the stairs instead(despite being soaking wet).she could feel her legs becoming numb as she made it up to Michael's floor, with the last bit of strength she had she made her away down the hall and towards Michael's apartment.

Michael Oliver hadn't heard from his best friend Hallie all day,and it worried him because he knew all about her abusive boyfriend Dennis, but was basically powerless against him(just like Hallie).Michael was shocked to hear a pounding at his door,he wasn't really expecting anyone and he didn't order any food.he got up from the couch and walked towards the front door, when he opened it he widened his eyes in shock when he saw Hallie standing in front of him, dripping wet from the rain, her legs shaking from running and her hand gripping the handle of her backpack tightly.before Michael could even ask what was wrong,or if she was ok,she cut him off.

"I finally left him."

That was all Michael needed to hear:he quickly ushered her inside and poked his head out the door frame to look down the hall before getting back inside and locking the door twice,he turned around and focused all of his attention on Hallie."let me get you stuff."he offered,"you should probably go take a shower."he suggested.she nodded in agreement and made her way down towards the hall to his bathroom, while she showered Michael brewed some tea and fixed up some food for her.as he finished the food he could hear the bathroom door opening,Hallie was in some fresh new clothes as she exited the bathroom."I won't be here for too long I promise."she quickly assured him,"Hallie you're my best friend!"he couldn't believe she would even say something like that.

She sat down on the couch,"you can stay here as long as you want."he assured him as he carried over a plate of food and a mug of tea.he placed them down on the coffee table in front of her,"I-I really appreciate this Micah."he smiled and gently placed his hand on her shoulder."let me get you a blanket,"he stood up and walked over to a closet,"you can sleep in my room,I'm ok with sleeping on the couch."he said as he grabbed a blanket."no Micah, that's not right."she tried to protest,"nonsense Hal you're my friend."he said.he gently placed the blanket on top of Hallie's back, she accepted it by gently wrapping it around herself."thanks for everything Micah."he smiled and sat down next to her,"but I need you to promise me something."she said in a serious tone,he tilted his head a bit."sure thing Hallie,"he said,"what is it?"he asked curiously.

"Promise me you won't try to set me up with anyone.I don't want to date, not for a while."
