(3rd POV)

"Our community is more than capable of defending itself!"

Tara shouted down at the walker-masked people or, as Lydia had told the group, the Whisperers.

"I show you my face because we mean you no harm. I just want my daughter." The bald woman's accent was thick and sounded like it was from the south. "I know you have her."

"You should turn around. Leave now and no one gets hurt." Y/n replied to her. Magna, who was next to him, had a conflicted expression as he said it.

"Wrong answer." She raises her arm, causing other people wearing the same masks to appear from behind the cornfield that was just a little ways away from the gate.

She had a smug smile on her dirt-covered face as she lowered her arm slowly.

"They don't see her, at least not yet." Kelly, from one of the new groups, explained as Y/n looked deeper within the cornfield to see Connie, a deaf woman who came from the same group.

Y/n turned his attention back to Alpha who kept her smile before returning to a blank face.

"That girl told me what her mom does to her. We ain't sending her back to that." Y/n keeps eye contact with Alpha as he lowers his tone so that only the others can hear him.

"Yeah but what if she has Alden and Luke? Pissing her off could get them killed." Lizzie whispered back. Magna shook her head.

"Did you kill our friends?" Magna called out to Alpha. "We found their horses."

"No," Alpha responded immediately. "Which one of you leads these people?"

Magna and some of the other group turned to one another, honestly not knowing the answer to her question.

"What the hell does it matter?" Alpha looked at the ground at Y/n's question back at her.

"Then I'll just address all of you." She looked back up. "Your people crossed into our land. There will be no conflict. Your people killed our people. There will be no conflict. I'm done talkin'. Bring me my daughter, or there will be conflict."

"No one touches the girl," Y/n speaks before anyone else as he swiftly walks down the steps that lead up to the wall.

"Y/n! Where is he going?" Yumiko muffled her shouts. On his way down he could see Enid and Henry waiting at the bottom and he walked past them.

"Does she have Alden and Luke?" Enid asked and Y/n shrugged as he carried on walking.

"What does she want?" Y/n gives him a subtle stare which gives him his answer. "No, Y/n, we-we can't do that."

"She ain't getting her." Y/n simply replies.

"Then what are you doing?" Y/n motions for the guard to open the gate which only emphasises Henry's confused expression.

"She's done talkin'. I'm not." The guards open the smaller gate beside the heavy steel ones and Y/n goes down the dirt path that leads out of Hilltop.

On his way to the whisperers, Alpha turns her head to one of her followers and as the name of her group suggests, whispers to him.

"Go, get 'em." Two whisperers disperse to retrieve something as Y/n finally comes face to face with Alpha with only a small wooden gate separating their full body from being seen.
