Connie tapped Y/n's shoulder as they traveled down into a small dirt trench-like ditch.

Y/n looked at where she was pointing to see Henry's metal staff lying on the ground, small amounts of soft dirt camouflaging it.

Y/n brushed the filth off of it before picking it up and examining the long piece of grey metal. Inscribed on the side were the letters M.J and H.S Morgan Jones and Henry Sutton.

"Definitely his. Must've been here a while." Y/n added as Connie wrote on her notepad before tapping his shoulder.

"He caught up with them." Y/n nodded in agreement.

"Yeah. Probably a struggle on the way-" Connie tapped his shoulder again and she gestured to her ears then her eyes then Y/n's lips.

Y/n caught on and realized he was facing away from her when he spoke previously and repeated his sentence slower and in front of her so she could read his lips.

Dog sniffed the metal staff and then began to sniff the floor in a precise pathway. Y/n motioned for Connie to follow Dog.

Two walkers appeared around the corner of a tree which made Y/n motion once more to Connie.

Y/n raised his crossbow while Connie equipped her slingshot. They fired simultaneously each hitting their respective target.

"Dog! Fetch." Dog pulled the arrow out of the walker and trotted back to Y/n who went to take it out of his mouth. "Good dog."

However, Dog growled playfully as he tugged back on the arrow, making it snap in half. Connie stifled laughter with a hand to her mouth while Y/n rolled his eyes.

"Bad Dog."

Y/n and Connie hid behind a bush as they watched a small herd of walkers rotate within themselves.

Now that they knew the Whisperers existed, it was a pretty simple explanation for their unusual walking pattern.

Speaking of the Whisperers, Y/n saw two Whisperers carry as many bodies towards the herd before dumping them.

The walkers hungrily munched into the bodies as the Whisperers retreated into the woods.

"I've got an idea." Connie read Y/n's lips and motioned to continue. "We take out some of those skins. Go in at night, lead the herd into the camp. Grab Henry as we go."

Connie nodded, not seeing any faults in his plan to question.

Getting the walker masks was easy enough, it just required an element of stealth from the duo. The hard part was getting the herd to follow them.

Many Whisperers were in the herd but Y/n and Connie had taken them out quietly.

This leads us to the duo slowly entering the camp, each with the walker skin masks they had stolen, still on.

Henry was easily visible, he was held by a larger man, he must have been at least 6 foot 4 with his great stature.

Alpha was grasping Lydia's shoulders as she shakily held a knife towards Henry.

Luckily before any of you had to intervene, a woman's scream interrupted what was going on. Alpha turned her head to the noise to see the herd, causing her to pull in her mask and walk away from the scene as well as the larger man.
