He dodged the glass scythes by mere centimeters, and he received a new haircut to boot for his efforts. He retaliated by sending a stream of fire at the villain. The villain responded by making a glass barrier before him, but the glass started to blacken rapidly.
He wasn't going to wait for the time it would take to melt the glass however, he jetted forward, keeping the fire stream on. When he got close to the barrier he cut off the stream and sent himself up and over the barrier. The villain couldn't see anything through the blackened glass barrier and wasn't able to block the pillar of flame that engulfed him from behind.
Endeavor didn't even spare the villain a second glance, he'd been trying his best to apprehend as many as he could, but it quickly became clear that wasn't feasible. This wasn't a simple criminal act or act of violence. It was quite possibly the largest-scale terrorist attack seen since the era of quirks began. He sent himself straight up to the tops of the highest buildings and overlooked the city.
Already a massive piece of the northern sections of the city had been turned into a burning wasteland and as he watched more buildings continued to topple over which in turn caused smaller buildings beneath them to topple. It was like watching a sick game of dominos. There were too many nomu, and the city was being rapidly destroyed. He grit his teeth in anger and glanced at the outskirts of the city. The giant was still there, just standing and doing nothing but watching.
He blasted back down toward a group of four villains and two nomu that were engaged in battle with a small team of heroes and police. He crashed down upon a large multi-armed nomu like a meteor. It didn't die on impact, however, so he reached down, grabbed its head, and sent a super-concentrated beam of fire from his palms into its brain. It died instantly and he spun to face the villains. The entire battle had paused at his sudden appearance and he took the initiative. Quickly closing the distance with two mutant-type villains he sent two pillars of fire at them. One of them deployed a set of stony wings and blocked the fire, but his compatriot was incinerated on the spot. A nomu tried to grab him but was intercepted by Shishido and the two of them started tearing into each other. The police and the second hero followed up by attacking the remaining two villains.
Endeavour jetted toward the stone-winged villain who retracted his wings to reveal his entire body was now stony. The villain then flew at Endeavour at an incredible speed and the two collided in mid-air. The villain sent a fist into his stomach and endeavor responded by breathing fire directly into the villain's face. The gargoyle villain screamed as his eyes burned, the only part of him not stone-like. Endeavour then grabbed the villain by the neck and sent him to the ground with a fire jet-enhanced choke slam. Then for good measure, he heated his hand up to intense heat and blasted the gargoyle villain's neck with a point black burning hand.
He looked up from the corpse just in time to see Shishido rip the nomu's head off with his bare hands. He then threw the head at one of the villains and roared at the other before leaping on top of him. The fight ended quickly and Endeavour took the moment to start to cool off some before his next fight.
"Here." came a voice from behind him.
He turned around to see one of the police officers holding a water bottle out to him.
"Thank you." He said as he took it and downed the whole thing in one go.
As he emptied the bottle he let out his breath, steam came out in a rush and he felt his internal temperature drop. He wished he could carry water around with him, but with his body often wreathed in fire, he just turned it to hot water, and thus useless to drink.
"Do... do you think we can win?" the officer asked as he took the empty bottle.
"It's not a matter of if we can or not. We must win." Endeavor said before blasting back into the sky.
