MARGUERITE'S GOT AN AFFINITY FOR BUGS

﹏︎﹏︎﹏︎﹏︎﹏︎﹏︎﹏︎﹏︎﹏︎﹏︎

THE OLD HOUSE was something straight out of a nightmare, one so horrible it was something she'd never be able to dream even if she tried. Loud cranky floorboards that had a knack for creaking at the wrong time, nests that dropped from the ceiling blocking entire pathways, a giant hole in the middle of the floor keeping them on the wrong hall, and bugs, everywhere.

If it weren't for the flamethrower Ethan crafted (they found a plan for it and the parts hidden in rooms of the house) she wasn't sure they'd be able to make it this far. Well, maybe Ethan would have. He seemed to be taking the humongous carnivore insect's existence with ease. (F/N) felt like all she was doing was hiding behind him while he said, "Watch out."

Not much had been accomplished besides acquiring the flamethrower and opening a new entry that was being hidden behind a nest. It was a stairway that led down. It ended at a door, which opened to a dark small room with a chain fence to the right, showing darkness behind it, an empty area they hadn't reached yet.

Once they made it to the desk that was at the end of it (and right next to the chain) the door on the other side of the chain opened, revealing a feminine figure standing in the doorway. The light shined behind her, and it usually would have made her look angelic. That was, if she didn't look like she had gone through hell.

"Ethan?" The woman called out, stepping forward in a way that made her appear exhausted. Ethan immediately made his way to the cage while the woman did the same, gripping it as she again said, "Ethan!"

"No more bullshit, Mia. I want some answers." Ethan was angry, and his stern tone gave it away.

     So, this was his wife.

She was a beautiful woman. Long brown hair and brown eyes that held a strange glimmer. Mia appeared just as dirty as everyone in the building, her white tank top aged. She still managed to look good though. (F/N) didn't think about the ache in her chest until she realized what it was. She tried to shove it away, to ignore her feelings, but just like always, it didn't work.

"I know. I know. You're right." Mia agreed, grabbing the fence tighter, "And I always wanted to tell you, but I just...I can only remember a little and the rest is just gone!"

With no warning, a hooded figure made its way out from a door that none of the trio had noticed before. The figure grabbed onto Mia and yanked her out of reach of Ethan who tried to grab her but ended up hitting the fence. The person held her with their arm wrapped around her shoulders in a tight grip.

"Daddy, right?" The figure was a man, appearing younger than the rest of the family. He held a teasing tone, one that correlated with his young age. "You mind if I uh, borrow Mommy for a little bit?"

He dragged Mia back to the door she had been in earlier, and when he noticed that both of them were still there, he looked disappointed, and called out, "Well, don't just stand there—do something!" He paused, changing his focus to (F/N), "And go back to your room, would ya (F/N)?"
