Severus Snape was a few months from graduating from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardary, which also meant a few months away from him getting married to the love of his life.

Severus is sitting on his bed late at night, legs up to his chest as he stares at his new engagement ring from Tom. He couldn't stop starting at it, not being able to stop smiling. He was even more in love with his soon-to-be-husband and the life he always wanted, if that was at all possible. He had already spoken to him earlier that night.
Severus is sitting by the fireplace in the Slytherin common room after everyone had gone to bed. Tom's face was showing through the fire.
"Did you enjoy my present, darling?".
Severus smiles and holds the ring on his finger, "It was perfect. Defintely not what I expected".
Tom laughs, "I never cease to amaze you, my love. Hopefully now Dumbledore will actually take our marriage seriously. But nonetheless, I meant what I said. Nothing...absolutley nothing will stop me from marrying you".
"Speaking of which, I finally got a response from Lucius".
"That's great, what did he say?".
Severus grabs the letter from next to him, "I haven't actually opened it yet. I wanted to wait for you".
He opens it and starts reading it out loud to Tom.

Tom smiles widely, "That's amazing, darling. I told you he would figure something out".
Severus smiles and nods, holding back tears, "I just can't believe this. We can finally get married. We can finally be together and live the life we've always wanted".
"Only a few more months, my love".
Severus smiles at the memory, the opened letter now sitting on the bedside table next to his bed. Things are finally falling into place. His engagement was made official, they found a way to actually get married, and Lucius and Narcissa were making healing progress.
Now all that's left to do is get through the rest of the school year, graduate early and start his new life with his husband. Well, he still needs to figure out the whole 'graduating early' portion of his plan. That's something he still needs to convince Dumbledore of.
Hopefully the ring was enough proof for that senile old man to process.
