Love of a Heartless Man | Short Story

Baby Dragon

It was now a year later. Tom and Severus were the happiest they have ever been living at Riddle Manor. Tom stayed true to his word and allowed Severus to renovate their house as much as he wanted when they came back from their honeymoon. 

With Dumbledore completely off their backs, Severus was finally able to put his Potions Master status to good work. One of the renovations he made was adding his own potions lab in the manor for him to use at any time. This allowed him to be able to take orders and work completely from home. 

They were up in their bedroom, getting ready to head to the Malfoys. They had received news that Narcissa had given birth to their baby a few weeks ago. Severus wanted to give the new parents some time to settle in before going to see them. 

Tom turns to his husband, "You excited to finally meet our godchild?". 

Severus smiles as he puts on his robes, "Absolutely. I still can't believe they are finally parents. And...". He turns to Tom smirking, "...we finally convinced Rabstan to propose to Regulus". 

Tom laughs, "It's about time. Ready to go, darling?". 

Severus nods and they head downstairs to the living room to use the floo. They decided against apparation since they didn't know how the baby would react to the wards shifting. Severus went first and Tom followed. 

Walking out of the fireplace, they arrive in the dining area of Malfoy Manor. Lucius was drinking some tea while waiting for their arrival. 

Severus smiles, "Lucius". 

He looks up and smiles, "Severus. Tom. It's so good to see you two". 

Tom bows slightly, "How are Narcissa and the baby?". 

Lucius gives a big smile, "They are doing well. She's upstairs with him now. He can't wait to meet his godfathers". 

Severus nods, "Can we see them?". 

"Absolutley. Follow me". 

Lucius leads them upstairs to the baby's bedroom. Slowly opening the door, he gestures for the two to enter first. Severus walks in and awes at the sight. Narcissa was sitting in a rocking chair by the window, holding a green bundle in her arms. He could hear her humming as she turns to see them enter. 

She smiles and stands carefully, "Severus. Lovely to see you both". 

He smiles and kisses her cheek, "Wonderful to see you, Narcissa. How's motherhood?". 

She looks down at the bundle, "It's...more magical than I've ever imagined. I'm very tired but it's all worth it for this little one. Lucius has been a big help. The baby's already a daddy's boy I must say". 

Lucius laughs, "He's a few weeks old, give me a break". 

She laughs, "Regardless, I think someone is about to take that spot. Severus, would you like to hold him?". 

He smiles, "Yes, I would love to". 

She hands him over slowly, "Meet Draco Lucius Malfoy. Your godson". 

Severus takes the bundle and looks down. His heart immediatley blossoms. Looking down, he sees a baby boy with blonde hair, sleeping soundly. He can't stop smiling, holding back his tears at the beautiful boy. 

He whispers, "He's perfect". 

Tom walks over and stands behind him. He looks over Severus' shoulder and smiles at Draco. Leaning on his husband, he reaches out and slowly caresses the baby's hands. The action caused Draco's eyes to flutter open and look at his godfathers. 

Severus gasps, "Hi Draco. Our perfect little godson. I promise...I will protect you and love you like my own son. You are going to be so spoiled and I just know you are going to grow up to be an amazing wizard". 

Draco coos and snuggles closer to his godfather. Severus almost starts crying and kisses his forehead. Tom smiles at his husband and looks up, seeing the new parents holding each other with love in their eyes at the sight. 

Narcissa turns to her husband, "Told you". 

Lucius laughs and shakes his head, "Just wait till Regulus meets him". He turns to Tom, "So, when can we expect our own godchildren?". 

Tom laughs, "Merlin, Lucius". 

Severus looks up at him, "I mean...I would be lying if I said this wasn't giving me massive baby fever. I...I want to have a baby. I have for a long time". 

Tom smiles lovingly, "I think we can have that arranged". 

Severus smiles widely and gives his husband a kiss. Nothing could make his life more perfect than it was right now. A husband. A home. A godson. A family. 

This is the most amount of love he's ever felt and he never wants to let that go.
