Hero...

It's a word synonymous with my parents. They were true heros until the very end. Inko and Hisashi Midoriya seemed an unstoppable pair until an unstoppable villain cut them down.

They were killed in their home on a quiet night. Mom was making dinner dad was playing hero and villain with me in the living room.

"I have captured you villain! There is no escape! Now where are the hostages?" I proudly proclaimed as my father sat on his knees under a throw blanket playing the role of the net that I used to capture him.

"You've bested me great hero but you're too late! The hostages have been turned into my minions!" My fathers best imitation of a villainous laugh rang through the house.

"Alright boys, dinner is ready! Put your legendary battle on hold." We looked over to see mom leaned against the door frame. The love in her eyes is something I'll never forget.

"Shall we call a truce for now my little hero in training?"

"Hm, I suppose."

"To the kitchen!" My father declared as he picked me up and threw me over his shoulder. I couldn't help the laugh that sprang out of my mouth as he tickled me. I tried to squirm out of his grasp but his hold proved inescapable for me.

"Careful now dear. We wouldn't want our little hero to fall."

"Of course not. We still have an unfinished battle, right?" He plopped me down in my chair beside mom and took his place across from her.

"Yah! I've gotta save all the people you turned into minions!" I stood up in my chair with one hand on my hip and the other balled in a fist raised in the air. "Never fear for I am here!"

"Okay mini All Might. Sit down and eat and then you can go play." She rolled her eyes playfully as she held my hand and guided me to sit back down.

"I still can't believe All Might is your favorite hero. What about me? I'm pretty cool!" My fathers face was one of offense. His hand placed on his chest as if the notion hurt his heart.

"Of course you're cool dad! It's just All Might is so amazing! He always smiles no matter what. I wanna be just like him. I wonder what his quirk has. Does he have control of wind and that's why his punches are so strong? Of course he could just have a strength quirk but with the power he displays it would be one of the most powerful strength quirks on record. I mean he threw a punch so hard it changed the weather!"

"There goes the analyzing. I swear if I didn't know you were quirkless I'd think you have an analysis quirk." I continued to ramble until what my mother said caught my attention. I went quiet. I hated being quirkless.

"I'm sorry baby I didn't mean to say that." She looked at me with regret written all over her face. She knew it was a sore topic for me and that we tried to avoid the topic at all cost in our house.

"It's okay mama. I know you didn't mean to say it." Tears started to blur my vision but I didn't want to cry. It was just gonna make mom feel even worse. My father picked me up and put me in his lap.

"Son, just because your quirkless doesn't mean you can't be a hero or anything else you choose to be. Your mother and I will always be here for you and we'll support you not matter what you choose to do. No matter what happens you'll always be our little hero." His hugs were always the best. Mom came around the table and joined our little family group hug. I felt wrapped in love and warmth. I'd never felt so safe and loved.

"Now, finish dinner baby and then we can watch a movie before you go to bed if you'd like." Mom put me back in my chair and we continued to eat. We talked about our days and what we were gonna do tomorrow.
